Currently, with expanded rosters, the Blue Jays have 28 players in the lineup. We need to shrink it down to 26 games for the post-season.

That means we need to cut two guys:

AUTOMATIC:-21- These are the guys that are definitely on the roster:

Chris Bassitt

Jose Berrios

Kevin Gausman

Yusei Kikuchi

Genesis Cabrera

Yimi Garcia

Jordan Hicks

Tim Mayza

Jordan Romano

Erik Swanson

Alejandro Kirk

Tyler Heineman

Bo Bichette

Cavan Biggio

Matt Chapman

Vladimir Guerrero Jr.

Whit Merrifield

Kevin Kiermaier

George Springer

Daulton Varsho

Brandon Belt

That leaves us with five additional guys to choose from the following: (currently active)

OPTIONAL:

Wes Parsons

Hyun-Jin Ryu

Chad Green

Trevor Richards

Davis Schneider

Santiago Espinal

Wes Parsons

The obvious choices here are Wes Parsons and Cam Eden.

But, there's also a couple of guys that could come up:

Jay Jackson

Bowden Francis

Adam Cimber

Zach Pop

Nathan Lukes

Ernie Clement

Spencer Horwitz

Personally, I would add Jay Jackson and Bowden Francis to the roster, and remove Ryu and Espinal.

Green and Espinal are locks in my view. Green is better than Garcia and you can't go with no backup SS.

I like Eden for one of the other 3 spots. The rest might depend on matchups.

I think all those guys are locks.

My guess for the last 3:

Eden

Schneider

Richards

How the hell is Chad Green optional? He's a lock. Espinal will be there too. The base stealing kid.

Also are we talking about the wildcard series only? Because you have currently have too many pitchers for what is a three gamer max.

Why is Wes Parsons obvious?

Richards is a good pitcher but he just doesn’t have it after coming back from injury. They can use him as the last guy in the pen but I’d be tempted to go with Francis.

Green is a lock. Espinal and Richards are as good as locks too even if it might annoy some. Schneider is close to a lock. Decision probably comes down to whether you want Eden for pinch running or a 10th pen arm.

This. You have to be crazy or not paying attention this year if you think Green or Espinal will be left off the roster

Long sample size vs small sample size. I agree though, Francis probably gives us more than Richards at this point.

I don’t think the front office will agree though

I feel like we'll be running with less arms and more bats in the wildcard round.

Yup.

Kikuchi will be a long relief option out of the bullpen, there's no need to carry a ton of arms. I would think Green is a lock.

I just put him in the optional group because of that 5.73 ERA. I know he's been good lately. Espinal has a .650 OPS. But yeah, he'll probably be there as we need someone who can play short other than Bichette.

And good point about the wildcard series. If we know we're not gonna start Kikuchi or Ryu, they could be options to leave off. We could go with Francis if we have a starter meltdown, thus keeping Kikuchi fresh for the next series.

For sure

No Ryu

One less pan arm

One speed guy and one PH guy

With the Twins being heavy on lefty hitters and weak on lefty pitchers, we will have to give extra consideration to guys like Richards, Ryu, and Horwitz.

I’m not sold on Ryu at all, Kikuchi can be the long man in the scenario that one is needed still leaving 2 lefty relievers. Agree on Richards and Horwitz

The Twins roster is going to be interesting, with some key players injured. Correa is expected to be back, Royce Lewis is unknown, and Byron Buxton is unlikely to play. There's going to be some serious rust either way (I hope, anyways).

Hey what about Rick....nevermind.

Sorry I wasn't clear. I meant the obvious guys to cut are Eden and Parsons

Gotcha. I kind of like Cam Eden though. Could be a useful pinch runner. Similar to Terrance Gore who is worthless in the regular season but has played in 5 different postseasons because of his speed.

8) Blue Jays

This might be the most frustrating lineup in MLB.

They won 89 games are in exactly the same position they would have been in had they won 100 games.

Jays need consistency across the board if they hope to win this best of three series. Leaving so many guys on base won't get the job done!

Wait the Blue Jays would have been playing the Twins on the road if they won 100 games?

They would’ve been playing the WC series regardless.

And as we learned last year, home field advantage doesn’t mean much

The Jays are actually a better road team vs home team so playing this series on the road isn't necessarily a bad thing. They have a top 7 run scoring offense on the road vs bottom 8 at home so road games might be a benefit.

If the Jays won 100, probably 3 or more of those extra wins come against the orioles (they went 3-10 against them) and they end up in front of them and likely the Rays
