Perhaps the Jays made him an offer before the season and he was insulted by it? Don't think he is actively trying not to perform but his body language on the field and especially at the plate is one of apathy.

Part of management is to keep your human resources interested and involved. Yet another failure of the Shapiro regime.

I don't see anyone else acting like Bo so not sure that's on the org necessarily.

Jeez... seeing the entire board freaking out right now is kind of funny. Obviously no one expected us to become this horrible but many of us saw the downward trend coming. Guess it's easier to accept for those people.

Only realistic option at this stage is punt 2024 and try to build a complete team for 2025 since Rogers will probably not allow a complete rebuild. Please for the love of God don't let Shatkins handle the retool. Never seen a longer runway than what these 2 douches have gotten.

He is sort of like an out of control employee at this point. Wtf is he doing saying to a reporter that San Fran would be a good org to play for. This is a power play on his part. He is sulking.

Article looking at the Blue Jays drafts, in particular after they fired Brian Parker who oversaw the draft with Bo Bichette.

https://www.sportsnet.ca/mlb/article/putting-blue-jays-spotty-draft-record-under-the-microscope/

As for the Blue Jays, they rank 21st among the 30 teams in WAR drafted since 2017 with 11.0, right between the White Sox and the Marlins (all numbers through July 5, 2024;

Spencer Horwitz lifted them a couple of spots with his last month. But all in all not great, bottom third of the league, but not at Pittsburgh and Colorado numbers. Colorado is somehow in the negatives, Pittsburgh was just barely above that before Skenes.

In 2015, months after taking over as team president, Shapiro remarked on what he perceived as a lack of minor-league depth built by his predecessor, Alex Anthopoulos.

“There were five (triple-A) guys named blank,” Shapiro said at the time. “The guys named blank don’t contribute many innings. We had to deal with that challenge and we’re creatively trying to address it.”

These quotes are so annoying to look back on now, along with the empty cupboard stuff. Eight years later and what we've got is definitely an empty cupboard. The arrogance of what he had to say at that time compared to the results of what they've actually accomplished prospect wise.

I’ve said before, trade Bichette at the deadline. It won’t be for 100% value but 1) waiting doesn’t guarantee the return will be better (see Donaldson 2018) and 2) the extra year of control could balance out the performance in a trade return. It won’t be a franchise altering return but the Jays have an internal replacement and need cheap, young talent badly that they have been unable to draft themselves.

Yeah Justin Turner recently said that the org does an extremely good job of making sure the players and their families are taken care of. Seems like a point of emphasis under the Shapiro regime. One of the few things this regime has done well is to make it an acceptable landing spot for FAs and it seems to have a good reputation as a player's org.

Any chance he's pulling a Vince Carter and really not giving it 100% in order to force his way out? I know no one wants to believe a professional would do that but let's not be naive....we've seen how willing players are to cheat if they think they can get away with it...this isn't that far of a stretch.

This is really the “change of scenery” factor. Statheads like Laila aren’t going to be the guys to have an opinion on that.

I don’t think a player like Bo is necessarily going to tank, as with less than 1.5 years to go until FA, this downturn is having a pretty big impact on a 10 year deal I’d think.

But it could just be the human factor of a player not happy with his situation and it bleeds over into performance, even if that’s not intentional.

You know, I was thinking about Bo and his personal life as it can impact on these kind of decisions. Other than his father, and the accusations that come with that, I don't know a thing about his personal life other than he used to play tennis. Anyone?

Blue Jay Central. There was a session on all the relievers who are going into starting. I did hear something a few days ago but it sounded like so much wind. It seems to be gathering though. Maybe cause nobody else can start. Pearson's comment was supposedly that he always wanted to be a starter. Take this for what it's worth.

I don't get that at all from that interview. He was asked about a narrative that SF isn't a team that players want to play for. He said he knew nothing about the City, but if he's picking a place to play, he wants to play for a winner and SF is committed to winning. I don't know why he's doing that s***** interview in the first place, but nothing he said is outrageous. I think it's commonly known that SF wants to win (and has had some success in doing so over the past 15 years).

I wouldn't draw any kind of conclusion from that interview. Did you expect him to say "SF is a s*** hole and I agree with the narrative that players and agents don't want to come here"?

My conclusions are based on his body of work this season and his aloof attitude on the field and the plate. Then this interview where he says, "for me first and foremost I want to win. That would be the number one priority for me if I was choosing a team and the Giants obviously are committed to that". He isn't going to choose TO it seems, so by implication the Jays don't want to win. Kind of a sideways shot at the Jays from my perspective.

Liking this Jimenez kid.

He looks comfortable in the batter's box and has good at bats considering his limited playing time in the bigs. His overall body of work looks like it'll play in the show, he just needs to work hard and maintain an upper hand in his re-adjustments in his plan at the plate.

my first impression as well, but too early to draw any conclusions

KK on revocable waivers

Was this the only comment on the KK thing?

The level of "don't give a f***" on this board right now is high.

I mean I know there's not much to say: good luck?good riddance? Whatever. Usually people say something but everyone is pretty much in a coma right now given this team's current s***** predicament.

I missed seeing his defense, if it's for real or not, my opinion was just on his offense, and in that I thought he's done well. Anyone able to assess his defense?

me too....haven't watched an entire game since his call-up so I missed seeing him on dee. I just checked his Prospect report and he's rated 50 in the field and 50/60 hit tool, no power though

It's not a level of apathy...it's just revocable waivers are boring. It's just a simple way of checking out a level of interest in trade.

the KK move was expected, it's why he's played almost everyday for the past week or so

And it's not like he was DFA
