I'm good with taking 2/3 and losing vs McLanahan

Just a little worried about what's going on with Manoah. Hope it's mostly mechanical and can be worked on rather than an injury or somwthibg mental.

Manoah TJ in 3..2..1..

Nah, nothing in his current output suggests there’s an arm or elbow issue to me.

He has just lost release point consistency. He could definitely go on the IL with “arm fatigue” or some other phantom ******** to try and get straight

He also has options I'm pretty sure. We're not at that point yet, but a couple more awful starts would make that worth considering.

Looking at Manoah's last few starts I am reminded of Ricky Romero who was terrific and then just seemed to lose it. Tell me I am worried for no reason.

Hopefully the next start is a good one. Don't be too surprised if Kirk doesn't catch it.

Jansen has had good results catching Kikuchi and Berrios so far. I don't think the Jays front office add Manoah to his mix this early.

I am not an expert, but from what the pundits are saying about Manoah's results so far it has been more about Manoah's execution of the pitches vs the calling of the right pitch.

A conditioning assignment?

I don't think changing his catcher is going to have much of an effect. Manoah looks a lot like last year's version of Kikuchi where he had a really hard time commanding his pitches. He would badly miss the strike zone constantly falling behind in the count and piling up the walks, and then when he managed to find the strike zone he would groove his pitches right down the middle of the plate.

Romero had no cartilage in his knees.

Manoah has lost a lot of quality to all of his pitches. I like the Chris Black breakdown.

So basically for some reason the slider (which used to be his best pitch) is now well below average.

Seems to be he is asserting that Manoah’s stuff is just worse across the board…but offering no explanation. But doesn’t think it’s a failure to execute.

Not much of an analysis. The “why” this what is needed to be fixed, anyone with functional eyes can see the stuff is not as good.

My personal take, and I am not the author of the tweet but like that it summarizes what we can all see, is that Manoah is either hiding an injury of some sort or he's out of shape (he's always been big but looks a lot bigger this year) and with the pitch clock he's just gassed because he can't stand around rubbing the ball up behind the mound to catch his breath.

Honestly, I think he's out of shape as well and the pitch clock hurts him. Not sure what his offseason routine was but it didn't involve much cardio.

If you told me before this series the Jays would take 2 of 3 with a team coming in 13-0, I would take that in a heart beat! The Jays did really well this weekend, kudos to them.

Manoah hasn't looked good at all. Even against KC, he walked 4 and struck out only 5. I expected some regression from him this season where he pitches more like a No. 3 starter instead of a 1/2. But yeah there has to be some concern if he doesn't turn it around because that only leaves Gausman as their true elite arm in the rotation, unless guys like Bassitt and Berrios step up and pitch like 2/3s. If Manoah continues to pitch awful like this or has to land on the IL, my concern would be the front of the rotation. Hope that Berrios returns to form and Bassitt just pitches like a reliable No. 3 and it's not too bad. Kikuchi also has looked good in 2 of his 3 starts, so that's promising.

It's pretty crazy (sad) that we have 3 massive dudes who aren't really in shape at all (for professional athletes).

I know Berrios has an 8 ERA but his FIP and xFIP are better than Gausman presently has. If Berrios BABIP drops from .419 to a more normal for him .300 he's likely going to be fine. I think how he pitched against Tampa is how he is going to have to pitch moving forward. I'm not overly concerned about Bassitt as I think he had a bit of a learning curve on calling his own pitches with pitchcom and a pitch clock and it's worked out. Kikuchi has looked good this season and I think as long as he keeps it simple he should be fine as a backend arm.

I think Manoah needs a phantom IL stint where he can just rest his arm and do some cardio and diet work with a rehab assignment.

Ya. He looks bigger than ever. Maybe he got a little too comfortable after last season.

I hope he really commits this off-season to getting into better shape. He's way too young to be late stage CC Sabathia.

Wasn’t early stage Sabathia also a beast of a man?

Remember the guy on MLB network praising Manoah but saying hey bro you could probably shed a few… and Manoah lost his s***

Good times

Manoah is cooler than Stroman but if he continues to suck and walk around with this alpha swagger BS it’s going to get old fast

Yeah that’s what I was texting my son yesterday, as we both like him. Like be Conor McGregor when you’re on top of the division, but when you’re not, it’s just being a clown. Hopefully he gets a little humble and keeps his head down if he struggles. Then talk all sorts of s*** when you get back to the top

So far that guy on MLB Network looks right.

I think we're already there. His tough guy routine is laughable. I've always thought that Manoah gave off these vibes of someone who was a loser throughout his school days and now that he's this star athlete, he got all tat'd up and tries to act cool and tough because he thinks that will make people like him.
