Reese McGuire, Taylor Saucedo, Trent Thornton, Josh Winckowski and Sem Robberse are all the ex jays i noticed got non tendered.

McGuire seems like he should stick somewhere eventually as a second catcher. Saucedo seems like he is worth a 40 man spot somewhere as well.

I hope Yesavage doesn't end up like Manoah. It's an odd story

Or worse, like Gustavo Chacin and then comes out with his own cologne - Yesauvage for Men!

Frasso and Manoah non tendered. I am euphoric.

Just another obvious example that the Dodgers are slipping in pitching development 🤣

Final tally:

  • Mitch White: 0.5 WAR
  • "Future Superstar" Nick Frasso: 0 WAR

Looks like I was right once again boys, we won the trade. Now everyone do the right thing and apologize (you know who you are).

boise state football win GIF

I will never apologize after having to watch Mitch White pitch, I don’t feel we won anything.  My eyes still bleed.

Funny they never even mentioned his “pressure? Pressure is what you put in tires” quote. Which started the total downfall lol

It was an A for effort, D for execution moment.  If only he went with "Tires feel pressure - I don't"

Yeah he kind of fumbled the quote then fumbled his entire career

Don't care much for people correlating his ego or attitude with his decline.

He was good, then he very obviously got hurt and his stuff fell off considerably. It had nothing to do with his mental side.

The guy was annoying from some perspectives but through 2022 you could still very much think about him as the kind of guy you would hate from other side of the field but love to have on your team. And at just 24, he had a lot of time to settle into a more normal athlete psychology.

I agree with this.  He had a little Stro in him, which rubbed some people the wrong way - primarily when he stopped being good of course.

He had a difficult upbringing and seemed to play with a chip on his shoulder.

2023 was such a bizarre season.  He/they kept claiming there was nothing wrong physically, despite the horrendous results.  I assume you're suggesting that's when he actually was hurt?

He seemed to be turning the corner a bit in 2024 until the elbow blew out.  I do wonder if his ego played into his release at all - or if they just had major doubts he'd ever be effective at the ML level again.  I originally thought it might be the former, but after Atlanta cut him loose, I suspect it might be the later.

Yeah. Players and teams are not always honest with injuries.

Also, sometimes injuries present with no pain. Like, mechanical breakdown or weakening of the strings but nothing pops and it doesn't hurt yet.

And maybe injury isn't even the right word. Early decline could be. Velocity almost always just goes down from age 20 on. Some guys lose it at 24, some hang onto it into their 30s for some reason. He lost a tick of velo at age 25 and it was pretty catastrophic for him, just based on his pre-decline stuff which was fringe. Going from 94 to 93 in the year 2024 is brutal. I think 85 mph is the typical rule of thumb for "good vs bad" sliders in the modern era, so he was already below that line in the sand and playing with fire.

Apparently Dombrowski said the Phils expect to have Donny Baseball as their bench coach next year.  So Mattingly may have left to go work with his son.

Yeah - someone just noted this when summarizing a JS press conference today.

Better get Schwarber hooked on that "all fields" approach.

I do think its partly mental with him. He got hit pretty hard in his very first playoff start, and was just never the same. Basically destroyed his confidence and never built it back up.

The Cardinals have acquired left-hander Justin Bruihl from the Guardians in exchange for cash considerations, according to announcements from both clubs. Bruihl had been designated for assignment by Cleveland last month.

Looking at Manoah's peripherals it is kind of a weird case. Like he got very lucky in early years then very unlucky towards the end. His velocity didn't actually drop all that much. Command was really bad in 2023, though. 2024 peripherals were back to 2021-22 levels.

I guess if you get injured, that's kinda the end though regardless of prior results.
