Jansen is definitely the best catcher of the 3 overall. Just extend him and hope he stays healthy.

100% he is

I'm upset he hasn't been extended already

Moreno is down to .229 average, 90 wRC+ and zero power. Walking more is about the only positive.

Perhaps we did ultimately keep the best catcher - Jansen

Niceee.

What are you going on about?

I'm guessing he is referring to missing the obvious sarcarsm? But then agian he might have missed yours :)

Loved Jano from day 1... always knew he would overcome getting BABIP'd

Matt Chapman with 72 wRC+ and -0.1 fWAR so far on his 3yr $54m contract

Making IKF look like a bargain

That oppo approach he's adopted over the last couple years was bound to be a major problem in that ballpark.

He has been total s*** so far. Neg WAR.

Maybe its opposite year for him. Last year he tore up April and sucked most of the rest of the season. Somehow ended up worth 3 WAR all said and done with a 110 wRC+

Maybe he does the opposite this year. Its a long season.

You mean their hitting coach hasn't told him what their organizational hitting approach is and instantly fixed what he does at the plate? Interesting.

You have to read between the lines. His former team screwed him up and it's going to take a while to set him straight.

So a new team wide hitting philosophy (that's s***) can immediately f*** up a player (see Varsho, Daulton), but a new philosophy can't immediately fix it (Chapman). That's concerning.

Teo improving his defense really upped his floor as a player.

Marcus Semien has the most ridiculous defensive stats right now. Leading OAA by a very large gap. Bis bWAR defense is 1.3 just so far. bWAR loves him.

f***, I miss Semien.

Crazy to think he was a sub 100 wRC+ hitter in 6 of his first 7 years and after turning 30, became a legit star. He was also below average defensively in his early to mid 20's. It's also crazy that he seems to be sustaining it, as A LOT of middle infielders fall off a cliff in their early 30's. Good for him. He always seemed like such a hard worker.

Yeah, he learned to turn around middle in velo, especially up.

He was a joy to watch that year we had him.

There was no chance the Jays were going to beat 7/175, but Semien might end up being worth that deal by the end of it, which is pretty surprising. He's been worth a shade under $100m as a Ranger according to FG and it's only been 2 years and a month into his contract. Wish the Jays could have brought him back but chances are it would have taken 8/200 to get him (assuming the Rangers wouldn't have matched that). Ideally they could have worked out a long term deal instead of the one year deal in 2021, but Semien saw himself as a 9 figure player, and he was right.

Gurriel down to 94 wRC+ Such a streaky hitter.

And the stupidest hair in baseball award goes to...

Chapman is heating up. Reached safety in 12 straight at bats. wRC+ back to 100

11 for 18 over his last five games, with seven of those being for extra bases. I watched a couple ABs the other night and the eye test matches up, he seems to be seeing the ball really well right now, taking some really tough pitches.

One can't help but wonder what it is about the guy, that he can be dialed in and then completely useless at the plate within a short span.

Trent Thornton has been a boss with the Mariners. No joke.

I've always liked his potential as he features really nice stuff out of the pen. It's too bad he might finally be putting together a solid season for someone else but at the same time there's plenty of time for him to revert to his previous ways as well.

Atkins should have kept Thornton and dumped Nate Pearson. What an idiot!
