Looks like White and Richards are the only guys with 0 options of any consequence and both can make the team as one of the 8 pen arms.

White isn't going anywhere, the only arm I can see making this team, is if Pearson pitches lights out or injury(knocks on wood).

Agree, White isn't going anywhere except maybe the disabled list and then stay in Florida to get some innings. Other than injuries, I think only Richards is on the bubble.

I think they should have replicated the Dunedin outfield with the new dimensions in Toronto. It would have given everyone more time to get used to the bounces/angles etc.

Install turf too?

That would cost a lot of money, man. Plus, I don't think they own TD Park.

The Jays were early owners of the Dunedin Blue Jays. I believe they put a lot of money into the facilities so they may have some arrangement/ownership.

Blue Jays Journal is asking if we are a good match for a Dodgers trade. They need a SS and we need pitching… The thing is, if we move Espinal, who is our back up SS?

Not sure if Barger is ready yet and I think the FO sees him as more of a 3b/2b correct?

Not a match at all imo.

No team evaluates players solely on exit velocity and launch angle. It’s a straw man argument

I'm sure the PR departments talk on park arrangements/promotions, but that stadium is owned by the City of Dunedin, IIRC.

I didn’t get the feeling he was talking about a professional MLB FO as much as he was to “others”.

Many sports teams, pro and semi-pro, don’t own their stadium d-bag. So improvements and such are usually negotiated between stadium owner and team

There are 100% coaches picking teams based on exit velocities

No f***ing s***, d-bag! They're still building our park dimensions, it would cost a small fortune to have done it, not to mention the logistics, it took Toronto and Buffalo nearly a couple months to paint the park and install MLB lighting during the pandemic, imbecile. Use your head for more than a hat rack.

Yes, looks like Dunedin City owns the stadium but we have a 25 year lease.

TD Ballpark Guide

Address: 373 Douglas Avenue, Dunedin, FL 34698

In early 2019, construction began on a newly renovated TD Ballpark and will continue to be home to the Toronto Blue Jays Spring Training and the Dunedin Blue Jays under a new 25-year lease agreement between the Blue Jays, the City of Dunedin, Pinellas County and the state of Florida. TD Ballpark hosted its first game on February 24, 2020 as the Toronto Blue Jays took on the Atlanta Braves.

The circus is over. Time to win some World Series!

I didn't mind the jacket but I found it was dumb to put it on when you're down 8-1 in the bottom of the 8th and you hit a solo bomb.

I dunno. We might need our middle infielders more than we need pitching...

Remember you're talking with Carlos - who's going to live and die with the narrative that the BJ's pitching depth is s*** this year.

Gotcha

Personally, this is the best I've felt about our pitching in quite a while

Especially SS, I mean the dude never even brought that up and thinks we'd get a Top 50/100 MLB ready SP prospect for Espy? That site is full of frauds.

Some lip service for Biggio early in spring:

https://www.mlb.com/news/cavan-biggio-looks-to-reclaim-regular-role-with-blue-jays?game_pk=719331

The highlights:

"“The athleticism that I have can help this team win, not only at second base and first base,” Biggio said. “Talking to Schneids in the offseason, I said, ‘Listen, I know I’m a good outfielder and I know I can be better than what I’ve shown.’”

This defensive side is where Biggio’s value begins, offering a fine baseline. His potential to be something greater, though, lies in his offense.

Biggio’s first two seasons offer a 159-game sample in which he hit .240, reached base at a .368 clip and had 24 home runs. He’s spent the past two seasons looking for that on-base number again, battling several nagging injuries along the way, but his path back begins in one place.

“My swing has to be right. I’ve been working on that a lot this Spring Training and offseason with guys like Victor Martinez,” Biggio said. “I’m picking their brains, hitting with him extra, staying late. When it’s all said and done, you look at my first two years and you see where I was really doing well, I was able to drive the ball. I was able to hit home runs. That thought goes into the pitcher’s mind when I step in the box.”

Best shape of his life

Weirldy enough though, he's not wrong. It doesnt seem like it when you watch him, but his sprint speed is 81st percentile and he's a really good baserunner. He's just one of those guys who has absolutely no flashiness to his game and always seems like he's just another dude but he provides so much more value than the eye test can see.

Is he suddenly going to hit .300 with a 150 wRC+ ? Hell no. But 110-120 is definitely achievable with solid but unspectacular D and versatility.
