Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted September 11, 2023 Posted September 11, 2023 Brewers call up JD Who?
hanton Old-Timey Member Posted September 11, 2023 Posted September 11, 2023 Who? lol the bringer of rain
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted September 11, 2023 Posted September 11, 2023 lol the bringer of rain lol... I was like who's JD checked pipeline and couldn't figure it out, watch him troll the Yankee fanbase and go on a heater.
Nursehoneybadger Verified Member Posted September 12, 2023 Posted September 12, 2023 On Chris Roses podcast with Plouffe today he said he received multiple texts from active players saying "what the f*** is wrong with Kirby". Apparently even going as far to say that he would get his ass kicked if he was on some other teams.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted September 12, 2023 Posted September 12, 2023 Ken Waldichuk might actually be good
hanton Old-Timey Member Posted September 12, 2023 Posted September 12, 2023 While Alzolay is on the IL Merryweather is now the closer for the Cubs

AMS528 Verified Member Posted September 12, 2023 Posted September 12, 2023 Imagine losing Freddie Freeman and replacing him with another star who hits 50 HRs for basically scraps. 8 position players with 2 or higher WAR. 4 starters above that. Just a ridiculous team, and most of them signed to incredibly reasonable long term deals.

Just a ridiculous team, and most of them signed to incredibly reasonable long term deals. The Jays also have this and should end up with 10 positional players with 2 or higher WAR. Unfortunately, the Braves 6th best positional player has more WAR than the Jays top positional player. That's where the comparison ends.
Laika Community Moderator Posted September 12, 2023 Posted September 12, 2023 Looking at the Red Sox lineup today and it might be quite potent next year. Casas really turned a corner and they have some young guys breaking in that can probably really hit. Rafaela and Valdez in there today. Story, Yoshida, Devers, Duran, Casas, Verdugo, Rafaela, Valdez, with Mayer a possible 2024 debut.
Ray Verified Member Posted September 12, 2023 Posted September 12, 2023 (edited) We don't have a qualified hitter on the team that has an OPS over .845 Meanwhile, the Braves as a team are OPS'ing .845. They're collectively slugging .500 lmao Just absolutely bonkers lineup. 2019 Astros stick out as the most dominant lineup I've seen in my lifetime, but this Braves team average age is 1 year younger and doing this Edited September 12, 2023 by Ray
hanton Old-Timey Member Posted September 13, 2023 Posted September 13, 2023 Trea Turner with a homer off Iglesias to send the game to extras, Rosario with a great AB vs Kimbrel cashes in the runner from 2nd, and now Brad Hand is in to try and close the game out....

If Realmuto wasn't garbage now the game would not have gone to extras
hanton Old-Timey Member Posted September 13, 2023 Posted September 13, 2023 Yesterday someone posted about Cabrera thanking god as he was leaving the mound after getting ruffed up, it did look kinda odd but.. ....... Remember Austin Cox? hurt himself trying to cover 1B on a Kirk infield hit, he was diagnosed with a full ACL tear as well as damage to the MCL in his left knee. He's going to be out for a while. Just like that, career could be done.

Woah, Turner has been scorching hot recently. What was looking to be a lost season for him is now actually quite productive. 3.5 WAR, 113 OPS+. He's OPS'ing 1.000+ since August.

Laika Community Moderator Posted September 13, 2023 Posted September 13, 2023 Max Scherzer will miss remainder of season. Hilarious that Toronto could not muster a single run against an injured Max Scherzer who was throwing cement mixers down the middle most of the night

jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted September 13, 2023 Posted September 13, 2023 Max Scherzer will miss remainder of season. Damn that sucks for them. Huge loss to their rotation.

Can barely contain my misery. f*** 'em. One day too late. We probably would have flailed away at their mediocre bullpen even if they had to resort to a bullpen day anyway. Whatever, I hope the Rangers never win a world series in my lifetime.
hanton Old-Timey Member Posted September 13, 2023 Posted September 13, 2023 Yandy Diaz left yesterdays game with a testicular contusion.....today, 2/5 with a couple of rbi's

hanton Old-Timey Member Posted September 14, 2023 Posted September 14, 2023 speaking of culture..... While the Braves were celebrating their NL title, Snitker interviewed on the field thanked everyone in the organization from the top to the bottom .....including the interns "sitting at their computers...." You don't create this kind of culture overnight
bones10 Old-Timey Member Posted September 14, 2023 Posted September 14, 2023 doesn't war seem like a flawed stat? Seems like 5 runs should win most games, so we just take RBI and divide by 5, x 1 if they bat 280, x .8 if they bat 250, -.22 war for a bad catch and -.22 for a bad throw, double it for a good diving catch and throw in 5 points if they win a CY young? Bill James, is that you?
