BA has come out with its updated farm rankings.

The Boston Red Sox are #5.

Grant?

edit - Jays are #25.

Has BA ever not vastly overrated Red Sox and Yankees prospects? Don't they have 7-8 yanks in their latest top 100?

I was a defendant in a criminal case when I was 19 yrs old, yes. If you didn't get into shitloads of trouble as a kid, you haven't lived.

It’s unfortunate that Jim wasn’t born years earlier. They had just started prosecuting for exposing yourself in a nursing home around 1953. A year earlier and Jim would have got “off” scott free…

Jim is going to hoard offers and then hit accept when the big shoe drops. I’ll pull my offer after 24h to not get caught with my pants down lol

This isn’t as uncommon as people think. Even in Canada it happens. The biggest difference in this case is money and fame. Not saying its right. But important details rolling out about this were conveniently left out to make him look more guilty. Like for instance them both being underaged wihen the relationship started. The family approval of the relationship. And ultimately the fact that he made an attempt to rectify the situation but than basically got blackmailed for a car and money.

And if the ages were 13 and 17 that’s not even worth making a fuss about it. That relationship is basically a 9th grader dating a 12th grader that is literally happening at every high school in your local area. A girl I grew up with got knocked up in Grade 9 by a dude who was about to graduate. Same age gap, 13 and 17. She even went to his prom. Nobody said s***.

Geography also plays a role. Very similar story happened in my hometown growing up, 15 years old pregnant from an 18 year old. Thing was, it was rural Saskatchewan where people and their families grow up together their entire lives, and those two families lived a mile part on farms. Ride the same bus to school everyday, help each other with farm work every year, those 2 dating wasn’t even blinked at.

At the same time though, just the number of an age gap isnt a be all end all….there’s a massive difference in an 18 year old and a 13 year old vs a 23 year old and an 18 year old when it comes to so very many things in life.

I never said Bauer was guilty, you ass. If you think otherwise, show the receipts. Spanky tried and failed.

With Franco I am taking the same approach I did for Bauer, let the process play out.

All I am doing here is making commentary without making a verdict of guilt or innocence.

I do find it interesting that the same ones that said Bauer was a victim of extortion and innocent are saying Franco is not being extorted and is guilty.

You mean this thread... https://www.bluejaysmessageboard.com/threads/9726-Trevor-Bauer-discussion-thread?p=1522555&viewfull=1#post1522555

You look the bigger fool than you do in here, comedic gold.

If you had a brain, you'd make your roster illegal so this can't happen.

Masataka Yoshida has quietly slipped to a 120 wRC+ with mediocre power, not a lot of walks, and horrendous defense + baserunning. And he's actually outperforming his xWOBA. Not looking like such a hot contract for the Red Sox anymore, the evaluators who clowned on them at the time of signing are starting to be in the right again. 5/90 to a 30 year old slap hitting DH with just above average (for a DH) hitting is pretty bad.

Is it inconceivable to think he might improve next season?? It is his first year in the majors

He had an elite May and a couple of other decent months, so sure. Maybe he has been hurt in August.

But he is also 30 with DH tools, a mediocre hard hit rate, and a good but not elite maxEV.

He could be better but I find it just as likely that the league could be better against him. Which we might already be seeing.

It's possible.

I completely agree with Orgfiller but I'm honestly impressed he's even this good. The dude can flat out hit but his body type is going to cap his potential big time.

The scouts were obviously right and I can't believe the Red Sox committed this much money to a 5'7'' 200 pound DH. They are lucky as hell this dude's hit tool is legit because everything else is severely lacking.

He's like Steven Kwan... on steroids... with no defense.

Right, guess we’ll see. It would be great for us if this is all he is

They got fooled on Rusney Castillo and they potentially got fooled again here

Didn't the Jays go hard for him before Boston signed him?

Allegedly Toronto was his #1 choice but Boston blew everyone out of the water.

Heard the same story about Kim. He wanted to sign with the Blue Jays but only the Padres were willing to give him a no minors deal. Ended up paying off big time for them.

Pipeline has Boston at 16 and the Yankees at 21, Jays at 25.
