In no way do I think Scherzer was cheating. Especially after he got checked the first time. Nobody would take that risk.

 

Yeah MLB is f***ing nuts to go through with this, especially after German just did the same thing and didn’t get tossed. Plus Max has deep ties in the MLBPA

I honestly dont know where I stand on this... it was rosin and sweat, which is allowed... but it was past what they think it should be, so he gets suspended, but the Yankee gets caught, doesnt change anything after being asked and stays in the game. I don't understand one situation vs the other.

 

Its just ump vs ump. Some are douchebags and some stick to the letter of the rule, some give leeway. Same with balls and strikes and other s***

Portland and Charlotte metro areas are not that far apart in population, maybe a few hundred thousand, but nothing substantional. I was looking at it the other day arguing with my brother about expansion teams and it was like... 2.6 million Charlotte to 2.3 Portland or something.

 

 

Not sure which data you are using. Charlotte has surpassed San Fransisco in size and is booming. Portland not so much.

Yeah I read about Charlotte starting to pop a couple years back.

 

In my industry at least, you dont make sheet in the Carolinas though. Comparatively speaking, So low property prices and taxes are only good if you can have same income.

Weather would be nice though for baseball

He only had an OPS of 1.800 in the minors. I wonder if his bat will be OK.

I wouldn't be upset if he did, but I'm not actively rooting against him.

Is Bellinger back or is this a mirage? Has the D still and like a .900 OPS.

 

Too early. I've seen him get wrecked by high heat in a few games I watched. If that shoulder holds up, he can be something.

Charlotte is banking and they have a huge tech hub in Raleigh Durham. Charlotte also has a lot of NASCAR and all the associated builders/tech etc

I agree. In his interview he said he told the Dodgers what he did and they were cool with it. I think the disconnect here between the MLB and the players is that they would rather these guys control their pitches and not be getting plunked.

Yeah they have NASCAR, but unless players start driving around the bases i doubt they will care about baseball

The Arizona Diamondbacks designated left-hander Madison Bumgarner for assignment, sources said, a move that brings a likely end to Bumgarner’s time with the organization despite still being owed more than $34 million through next season.

 

Bumgarner had posted a 10.26 ERA in four starts this season. He finished last year on a 10-start skid in which he had a 7.12 ERA.

 

The five-year, $85 million contract the Diamondbacks gave him will go down as one of the worst in franchise history. He posted a 5.23 ERA in parts of four seasons.

 

Bumgarner is likely to be placed on waivers soon, if he hasn't been already, and would become a free agent once he clears. He could then sign with another team for a prorated portion of the league minimum ($720,000). He is not likely to be claimed or traded given the amount of money still owed to him by the Diamondbacks.

Ya, he'll bounce around to a couple teams I think. Someone will try the change of scenery thing.

 

It's like he took a nose dive the moment he signed with the D-backs. He was trending slightly downward before that though.

I think someone desperate for innings will pick him up. But that could end up being his last team.

 

Some team like Detroit, Oakland, Boston... Colorado... maybe even the Mets with all their injuries.

K% is WAYYY down so far. Below his peak years even.

 

On the other side of the coin, his walk rate is down and the exit velo numbers are pretty underwhelming. Has Bellinger focused on being more of a slap hitter? Maybe he’s cheating a little more on pitches knowing he doesn’t have the batspeed he used to have or the power he used to have.

This is true, players don't like getting hit, it's safer for everyone.
