I don’t know. I saw Prince Fielder tear around the bases for an inside the park HR when he was younger, but he left baseball at age 32. His last 3 years, he played 42 games his age 30 season and 89 his age 32 season..

The Prince Fielder comp with Vlad is actually pretty similar. Decent walk rate, good k rates.

 

Fielder was super durable. Only missed 13 games from 2006-2013 seasons.

I said Stroman was the biggest douche the Jays have ever drafted before anyone saw him in the big leagues and was ripped mercilessly for it. JP Arencibia was another, and Alex Rios. Bo isn't as bad as those guys but he's the type of guy that will dig in his heels and do something because someone asked him not to, or not do something because someone asked him to do it (ie he won't cut his damn hair because some coach told him to cut it when he was younger, he won't move to second base even though he's clearly much better suited there). There's zero chance this guy is signing for anything less than Correa and something about him just gives him away, I can't put my finger on it but you can just tell he wants to be somewhere else. I think that would be far more obvious if he wasn't playing with guys he came up with like Vlad and Cavan, but I bet we're gonna see some fireworks with him this year, between him and Mattingly or even Schneider.

 

I hope I'm wrong but like I said, pretty good at reading people and I'm sure I'll get ripped for this opinion the same way I was for Stroman et al, but time will tell.

There’s no proof the front office has ever asked him to move to second base. Yet. We’ll see what happens going forward I guess.

One thing to keep in mind with Vlad/Bo is that by the time they become free agents, the league will be a year away from the next round of CBA negotiations. The economic landscape in 2025 is going to be dramatically different. Now, the one constant with MLB free agency is that even when owners aren't spending, it never hurts the upper tier guys so Vlad/Bo should still get huge contracts, but giving it to them now doesn't help the Jays all that much as they likely won't be getting any sort of team friendly perks from it.

 

I've always thought Bo was gone after 2025, and that if the Jays prioritized signing anyone it would be Vlad. I still feel that way. Either both leave or Vlad stays. I don't see it ending any other way.

Yeah, people sometimes don't realize that nobody gets to the highest levels of any professional support without having 100% confidence in their ability, themselves, their path going upwards... all kinds of things that a regular joe working at "insert boring 9-5 job" here would absolutely hate if their co-workers talked or behaved like that in an office.

No one hated JPA as a player more than me. But as a person the guy is one of the most real, charitable people I've ever met. I think you seem to have something against the Irrational Confidence guys. Of which Bo would not be in. Bo has been honest with this front office from day 1 in saying that he wouldn't sign a team friendly extension. I can respect that.

Sometimes introverts are percieved as being aloof. Easy mistake to make with Bo as well. I think the guy is a pretty solid teammate who is a hard worker. We could use more like him.

He has stated that lack of focus and effort on the field is what he takes issue with and intends to correct these types of issues if required. If the team wanted a seismic culture shift/hard-ass manager they would have made this type of managerial hiring in the first place.
