You went on a multiple-page tangent based entirely on the misconception that I was a Greg Bird stan and now you're sitting there awkwardly realizing you need to develop better reading comprehension skills, lmao.

Yeah, you really dunked on me.

I recall you doing the same thing several times. It's not so nice to be on the other side.

Even on a minor league deal with a hope of breaking out with the team at some point, it doesn't really make sense to me why he would pick the Yankees over the Jays. The Blue Jays only have Vladdy at first, who they will likely DH like 30 times this year anyway. And they don't actually have a traditional DH.

The Yankees have Rizzo and LeMahieu at first and Stanton at DH. He has no chance of breaking through with them unless there are multiple injuries or they decide they want him up exclusively as a lefty bench-bat in pinch-hit situations. That still feels counter-intuitive since one of the Yankees' only lefty bats is at the position he plays.

Maybe he just really wanted to be a Yankee again.

Either way, regardless of how we got here, I'm glad he's out because the more I thought about it yesterday, the more I felt that the Jays didn't need a one-dimensional guy on a roster that is so flexible and needs to be able to move guys around. It doesn't really matter to me what team he picked.

Well these guys are old and declining. I kind of do think he has a better path to playing time in New York. I could see multiple Yankees having season ending injuries because they are large and old. Not the case in Toronto, although of course there is injury risk always.

Ah, yes. The time you claimed I put words in your mouth and then never actually made an effort to prove how I put words in your mouth, never made an attempt to clarify what part of your argument was misconstrued and what you actually meant, and instead watched everyone else on the forum quote your posts and make it clear that I addressed your points exactly as you made them.

It's not so nice to be on the other side.

Nah, I really don't care. It became a lot funnier to me when I realized that the guy wasted time writing multiple essays in an elaborate attempt at a "gotcha!" all because he incorrectly assumed that I give two shits about Greg Bird as a baseball player.

That's a good point. I do feel like Rizzo's relatively durable but I also forgot about the vaccine s***. Bird could easily find himself getting significant playing time as the Yankees left-handed 1B option if it turns out that Rizzo is still unvaccinated.

NY removed that vaccine restriction.

Can we close this s*** show yet or what?

New York did but the Yankees still play 9 important games in Toronto, where the restriction still exists and is still a regular topic in the media.

If guys like Rizzo and Judge (the two everyone's suspecting aren't vaxed) can't come north of the border, then obviously depth options like Bird become important for them.

My understanding was that teams do not get to call up replacements for unvaccinated players and will simply have an empty roster spot.

As much as I hate to even say it, someone unvaccinated = higher risk of getting Covid = higher risk of missing time due to Covid

Sorry I was hung up on you suggesting he could get significant playing time if Rizzo isn't vaccinated. I guess it could become significant if he gets COVID a few times.

Holy s***, that's hilarious.

Natural immunity is providing superior immunity vs vaccines. What % of the unvaxed population didn’t contract Delta? 1%?

Being unvaccinated does not equal increased likelihood of contracting covid today.

Hours later and not a single person thanked the above post lol.

Going to go ahead and chalk up another W on this one.

As much as I hate to even say it, in terms of COVID-19 infections in Ontario, those with booster doses have 22.35 cases per capita, fully vaccinated have 15.47 cases per capita and partially or unvaccinated have 12.75 cases per capita. (Per 100,000 people, 7-day average).

What makes you think he'll catch COVID a few times during a season?

We need to put Aaron Judge in the same category as your 85yo grandma to properly put things in perspective though. Otherwise, it’s bad science

Im pretty sure they get a replacement call up. I believe it will be treated like a temporary DL stint. We’ll find out soon enough whether the rule is even in place or if they’re granted an exception.

I mean we are still in the midst of a global pandemic, can never be too safe IMO

I don't know where you are getting these numbers but they are probably ********, and even if true they probably do not control for refusal or reticence in getting tested, or behavioural changes.

I too can google stats to support my case

good thing common sense also supports me

obligatory line about baseball so i don't break my own rules - players who don't get vaccines probably have a higher chance of getting covid blah blah aaron judge blah blah greg birb

I just realized your numbers say "22.35 cases per capita"

per capita means per person

whoever wrote out those numbers is confirmed special
