glory Old-Timey Member Posted March 16, 2022 Posted March 16, 2022 I haven't read Conforto's name linked to anyone. I think he was qualified so it would cost a pick, but with Schwarber apparently off the board, I think Conforto would make a lot of sense if the team was ok losing a pick for him.
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted March 16, 2022 Posted March 16, 2022 Last year was Chapman's first full year returning from hip surgery...how much hope is there that the hips is now repaired and stronger and the bat will improve? I'd guess there's a good chance that he improves, whether or not he recovers fully is the question. He's still young, so there's a reasonable chance. I don't think he has to fully recover to have value to the team, though.

I'd be all over him for a 3 year $40M
JFD Old-Timey Member Posted March 16, 2022 Posted March 16, 2022 Chappy was abysmal offensively last season, hopefully he can return to pre-2019 offense level
Ray Verified Member Posted March 16, 2022 Posted March 16, 2022 Smith, I’d honestly be totally fine with giving up, but I kinda hope we didn’t give up Kirk here.

I don't think I'm comfortable giving up a pick for Conforto. Not when we have 3 starting OFs already.
RustyTrombone Verified Member Posted March 16, 2022 Posted March 16, 2022 Dickerson is kinda trash (but if he'd sign as a cheap bench piece, I wouldn't hate the idea), and I can't imagine Joc would come here to be a 4th OF - he's likely looking for a starter role to try and rebuild his value, ditto Conforto. Well Joc would get starter atbats vs rhp. And with conforto we would have to make room like I said. Probably would mean Gurriel to dh/1b or maybe a trade.
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted March 16, 2022 Posted March 16, 2022 Chappy was abysmal offensively last season, hopefully he can return to pre-2019 offense level He had a 101 wRC+. He was almost exactly average.
Ray Verified Member Posted March 16, 2022 Posted March 16, 2022 Honestly, just re-sign Corey Dickerson and run it back. Read an article about him after the season and he detailed all the changes he made with Guillermo Martinez and how comfortable he felt with the Jays, and the numbers showed it.
JFD Old-Timey Member Posted March 16, 2022 Posted March 16, 2022 He had a 101 wRC+. He was almost exactly average. Abysmal based on his career numbers.

I actually like that idea quite a bit. The qualifying offer could have cooled his market a lot. With Ray and Semien we are 2 qualifying offers to the good already so Conforto could be a nice add.
BCZ Verified Member Posted March 16, 2022 Posted March 16, 2022 Hoping Pearson is still here, ok with sending Kirk or Groshan. If Kevin Smith is the biggest piece going to Oakland then I love this trade. Please no Kirk/Moreno/Pearson It's already been established nobody on the ML roster... pay attention?
BCZ Verified Member Posted March 16, 2022 Posted March 16, 2022 I hope you guys know the return is going to be way more significant than any of you can imagine. 1) It always is 2) They're trying to save face after missing out on Freeman 3) It's the Toronto surplus charge
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted March 16, 2022 Posted March 16, 2022 It's already been established nobody after the ML roster... pay attention? To be fair, that was one tweet from a reporter, not the club saying that for sure. I think it's likely accurate, but it would hardly shock me if a baseball reporter got something wrong.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted March 16, 2022 Posted March 16, 2022 Now we need a corner OF who can hit. Grichuk to the bench
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted March 16, 2022 Posted March 16, 2022 I don't think I'm comfortable giving up a pick for Conforto. Not when we have 3 starting OFs already. Ah... just make Grichuk a glorified 5th CF/OF backup... Man, I'd love Conforto.

Chapman is actually a better move than Freeman. 3) If that ever existed, it's for free agents, and doesn't apply to trades.
vaff Verified Member Posted March 16, 2022 Posted March 16, 2022 Now we need a corner OF who can hit. Grichuk to the bench What happened to Hernandez and Gurriel? 🤔
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted March 16, 2022 Posted March 16, 2022 Now we need a corner OF who can hit. Grichuk to the bench Grichuk is already on the bench... We have LGJ, Teo, and Springer.

Ray Verified Member Posted March 16, 2022 Posted March 16, 2022 Davidi: Blue Jays deal for Matt Chapman is done. Kevin Smith, Gunnar Hoglund, Zach Logue and Kirby Snead are headed to Athletics, per source. Yup, more than fine with that return. Let’s gooooo.

Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted March 16, 2022 Posted March 16, 2022 What happened to Hernandez and Gurriel? Teo DH
Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted March 16, 2022 Posted March 16, 2022 It's Smith, Hoglund, Logue, and Snead as per Shi Davidi. Very reasonable in my opinion.
BCZ Verified Member Posted March 16, 2022 Posted March 16, 2022 What’s your prediction hot tub guy The mother load, get your faps in now
