I would prefer Gregory Soto, but they have a DH tomorrow, so it's an understandable move.

Maybe he pitched recently, that doesn't make sense, regardless of a DH tomorrow? I think the Tigers are tanking. lol

I didn't mean to suggest they were trying to lose tonight. Obviously they still want to win because they have a chance to play at home, but if they fail, they might make decisions in the next couple days with an eye towards Cleveland instead. If you don't think that professional teams don't intentionally manipulate their chances in order to try to pick playoff opponents then I don't know what to tell you because it does happen. It definitely happens in the NBA probably more than other sports.

Now, I don't know which team Seattle would rather play or if they have a strong preference either way, but if they do have a preference for Cleveland it will affect their decision making.

But the same thing goes for the Rays? I feel like I'm in the twilight zone.

I do wonder about the Rays' motivation. Seems they kind of handed today's game away by using a garbage reliever to give up the lead. Cash certainly didn't manage that game the way he normally does.

You got tickets for game 3 too? If so, that's the best Thanksgiving ever, lol.

Jamie Campbell mentioned that the game might not get played tomorrow, due to rain, please be true. Rest up boys.

s*** what a bonus that would be if we could rest our pen. We could have white and Kikuchi pitch 162 if we had to.

Damn right

Can legit rest some guys now thanks to Seattle and Tampa fizzling out while we keep winning

I will also be making my home playoff debut. Hoping to sit close enough to the Jays dugout so I can give Schneider some tips.

Not sure. They usually like to stick us with the early games but are they really going to make Seattle fans watch this game at 9 am their time? I think we might get early evening.

If I was to bet. Padres Mets will be prime time, cards phillies, will be early evening, jays mariners late afternoon, guardians rays will be noon. Just a hunch

In MTL for some meetings today. Back to Calgary tomorrow. Might have to turn right back around and hit these games too.

I went to the 1st 2 games in TOR in '15 after the drought since '93. Sat in depressed shock as we got beat in them both and Cecil got hurt. Odor bombs.

Jose and Andrus saved us in Gm 5 I wasn't at.

This is such a short series. Literally anything can happen results wise no matter how well you draw it up. Got to drink it all in.

Same! Came from New Brunswick to watch them lose the first two and was so bummed out. Would have killed to be at game 5 LOL.

I'm curious to see how the potential loss of Sam Haggerty impacts Seattle. He's a bit of a Cavan Biggio type who can pinch run and play multiple positions and one of only 3 hitters batting above .250. It would certainly make Mayza more effective if they load the bottom of the lineup with lefties and have no pinch hitting options.

It will probably impact them very little because they are deep offensively if you use wRC+ instead of batting average.

Despite the narrative that the Ms suck offensively, everyone on the team except Adam Frazier has an wRC+ 100 or greater.

OK Technically Carlos Santana is at 99 despite the fact he is hitting .195 or something. Still has an above average on base percentage and power.

Equivalent to the Jays losing Espinal. I haven't watched enough Mariner games to get a feel for how they set their lineup. I guess if Winkler, Frazier, and Crawford are at the bottom together not having Haggerty to pinch hit could hurt a bit, but last time we played them those guys were spread out with Crawford near the top.

Haggerty has 1.3 WAR in only 82 games / 197 PA this year

From the game to PA ratio it seems like he's a common defensive replacement and pinch runner

I think Dylan Moore and Frazier kind of platoon on the infield

So the main effect of no Haggerty would be one less pinch runner for them but more importantly you might see both Winker and Haniger in the OF in the late innings with the M's winning. Pretty bad defense in late/close situations.

That sounds about right. So like 3pm/4pm for Jays

"Why isn't the Rocket hitting leadoff?"
