Pitching in the same bullpen as your twin brother would be hard to turn down

My comment solely relates to the risk a team takes. Of course the chance of that happening is remote.

Bauer is going to lash out when he loses the court case and has to pay the woman $$$. More bad press for any team that signs him.

Purely speculation

I can get with the Bonds precedent, the idea nobody will sign him. Baseball does wax more conservative than other sports. The NBA they would all be lining up their bids lol

I don’t think it’s dumb to say he won’t get signed, but I think he will in a couple months when it’s not so hot. Worst case, I think if nobody signed him this year, he’d get signed next year.

Which of funny because of the demographics of the fans of each league. Baseball would be right leaning, basketball left

Not enough evidence to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt (the criminal threshold)

But enough evidence to prove guilt on a balance of probabilities (the civil liability threshold)

Objectively, from what we know, it can be said that even the civil route doesn’t look good for her.

I would disagree, based on the Nov 23 reports

And now with the arbitrator finding merit for a lengthy suspension (and the arbitrator would look at past suspensions, including the Chapman matter), this again it does not bode well for Bauer in the civil case

Red Sox get: C Danny Jansen

Blue Jays get: OF Alex Verdugo, 2B Nick Yorke (Red Sox's No. 4 prospect)

What do you guys think of that trade idea?

It is bad. Verdugo is awful defensively. Blue Jays do not need 1-2 WAR players at this point. Carlos said Houck instead of Yorke. I say Houck instead of Verdugo. Houck can start IMO.

That being said, sending Jansen to the Redsox is a bad idea. He will be very good there and terrorize our team for years.

No interest in Verdugo, and Yorke had an 84 wRC+ in A+ last year (he is young still, so maybe there's something, but he's already listed as a 2B so probably not a lot of defensive value either).

So Yankees get Reynolds AND Bednar

Orioles get Burnes

Rangers get Lopez

and we get Verdugo? BS.... I honestly dont see them trading Verdugo because he was the main piece for Mookie. But Like Danger says, if they add Houck (which they won't) I would do it as well.

The trade Values site has them close to even on this trade.

I honestly can't stand Verdugo but I also didnt like KK...so whats another.

FLUSHING, - APRIL 15: New York Mets owner Steve Cohen speaks to the crowd during the Tom Seaver Statue Dedication at Citi Field on Friday, April 15, 2022 in Flushing, NY.

Multiple MLB owners are worried after New York Mets owner Steve Cohen went on an unprecedented shopping spree in free agency this offseason, according to Jon Heyman of the New York Post.

Some owners are reportedly concerned they won't be able to compete for players and, inevitably, in games.

Other owners were fine with Cohen signing Edwin Diaz, Brandon Nimmo, and Justin Verlander but thought landing Carlos Correa was "over the top," sources told Heyman.

New York Yankees owner Hal Steinbrenner said Wednesday that Cohen's spending was something that had to be "looked at" after the latter dished out over $800 million to free agents.

The Mets' total payroll for 2023 currently stands at around $500 million, which includes a luxury-tax penalty of over $100 million. Meanwhile, the Yankees have the second-highest projected payroll in baseball but are still 33% behind their crosstown rivals, notes Heyman.

Cohen is by far the wealthiest MLB owner, with an estimated net worth of $17.4 billion.

It's not that bad in terms of value, but I'd prefer exploring a trade for Kepler first.

I love how this board keeps finding options which at best are equal to what we already have. Let's trade assets to stay the same and maybe occupy more 40 man roster spots. Brilliant.

Meh, if you really look at all the Mets spending, all they did was re-sign their own players, replace DeGrom with Verlander and add Correa. Virtually the only thing that will actually improve the team is the Correa signing. The rest was just to maintain what he already had.

There's also very little chance he spends like this every offseason. Even so, I hate owners that pretend to be poor. They're all multi-billionaires, every single one of them could spend more if they wanted to, every single franchise is worth 1 billion dollars or more and has increased in value steadily over the past 20 years. (minor nitpick, the Marlins are valued at 990 million... close enough). Every single team just got 30 million each from MLB's sale of its remaining 15-percent stake in BAMTech, a streaming technology service group, to Disney for $900 million. So any team that chose not to increase payrolls by even 10 million dollars this year, and whine about another owner spending more money, can kindly shut the f*** up.

Signs with SF for 13/350

Giants back out based on physical

Signs with Mets for 12/315

If the Mets go ahead and back out now, who will continue the pattern and sign him for 11/280?

Wow

I guess he could go back to the Giants they probably have a number in mind they’d be comfortable at

Actually nothing he could do here. He had a great off-season. He got CC the contract, then tried to leave $50m on the table for a team that may overlook it.. no go
