connorp Old-Timey Member Posted December 6, 2022 Posted December 6, 2022 One knock on the Jays is they can’t seem to lock guys up. Won’t be good Bo and Vlad getting to FA.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted December 6, 2022 Posted December 6, 2022 Giants reportedly offered Judge 9 years, $360M. I would accept on the spot. That is going to be hard to turn down if true. No matter how much the lore of becoming a lifetime and all time great Yankee is...We'll see if the Yankees up their offer. Will the Dodgers pivot to a SS? Rumor has it the Cubs could try and sign 2 of Correa, Swanson and Bogaerts (says more likely it's Swanson and Bogaerts with the latter moving to 3rd).
Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted December 6, 2022 Posted December 6, 2022 Giants reportedly offered Judge 9 years, $360M. I would accept on the spot. You would accept MLB minimum on the spot and probably cut off a nut if that is what it took. A guy with options needs to assess.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted December 6, 2022 Posted December 6, 2022 Giants reportedly offered Judge 9 years, $360M. I would accept on the spot. He’s waiting to see what franchise will give him $400m. If they are going to 360 they will go to 400. Judge should also ask for ownerships stake.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted December 6, 2022 Posted December 6, 2022 One of my berries was injured in a motorcycle accident about ten years ago (luckily my buddy showed up with his truck and we got out of there before the cops showed up). The doctors wanted to remove the injured nut because it no longer functions but I told him I'd kill him if he took it out. So I do have a full set of nads but only one works. But because my nuts are so damn big my T-levels are still 4x as high as your average 25 year old male according to the doctor lol. Now the bar fights make sense
Dick_Pole Old-Timey Member Posted December 6, 2022 Posted December 6, 2022 Get them early. Now is late I would not feel great about a 10+ year $400+ million contract to Guerrero signed last year given the season he just had. So the only other opportunity to get him early was after the 2020 season, with limited stats to go on, and what the Jays did have on him at the time was pretty questionable. So I don't blame the team for standing pat until this point in time. Making Kirk and Manoah the franchise faces of the team for the next decade might be the more logical move than Bichette and Guerrero. Almost a certainty they aren't going to be able to keep all four.
connorp Old-Timey Member Posted December 6, 2022 Posted December 6, 2022 Yeah 2020 was the time. Some of these teams do it the first year, get a couple FA years at least
BTS Community Moderator Posted December 6, 2022 Posted December 6, 2022 Weird. Do they really need Bell and Josh Naylor?
Dick_Pole Old-Timey Member Posted December 6, 2022 Posted December 6, 2022 What I can say with great confidence is that the degeneration of this board's content over the past couple of days is directly correlated to the lack of any moves of note by the Jays recently. Everyone was on topic after the Hernandez trade.
Laika Community Moderator Posted December 6, 2022 Posted December 6, 2022 Weird. Do they really need Bell and Josh Naylor? Guardians need to bring in whoever they can afford and land. Naylor and Bell clogs up 1B/DH buuuut typically they bring up players with defensive utility these days so not sure that matters in 2023 much.

Everyone was on topic after the Hernandez trade. Of course. It’s December 6th, we’re all starved for baseball news and frequent the site daily to make sure we don’t miss anything. When nothing happens, this is what happens.
L54 Old-Timey Member Posted December 6, 2022 Posted December 6, 2022 Weird. Do they really need Bell and Josh Naylor? Pull a 2015 Seattle Mariners and play him in LF
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted December 6, 2022 Posted December 6, 2022 Weird. Do they really need Bell and Josh Naylor? Truffle Shuffle battle in the Dugout.
wilko Old-Timey Member Posted December 6, 2022 Posted December 6, 2022 Truffle Shuffle battle in the Dugout. Naylor would win that. He's a loonatic!
glory Old-Timey Member Posted December 6, 2022 Posted December 6, 2022 Heaney signing with the Rangers. No mention of the contract, but I'm guessing it's going to be way too much.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted December 6, 2022 Posted December 6, 2022 2 year deal with an opt out for Heaney
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted December 6, 2022 Posted December 6, 2022 Heaney signing with the Rangers. No mention of the contract, but I'm guessing it's going to be way too much. Apparently it's a 2 year deal with an opt out. Makes sense as he can cash in big time if he makes 32 starts this year and repeats his performance from 2022. No $ figures yet.

Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted December 6, 2022 Posted December 6, 2022 #3 SP options are starting to dry up in FA. Jays might need to bring Stripling back.
wilko Old-Timey Member Posted December 6, 2022 Posted December 6, 2022 The Rangers are nearing a deal with free agent pitcher Andrew Heaney, reports Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News. It’ll be two years with an opt out, per Jon Heyman of The New York Post. It’s a two-year, $25MM structure plus incentives, per Joel Sherman of the New York Post. The incentives can take it up to $37MM, per Alden González of ESPN.
BTS Community Moderator Posted December 6, 2022 Posted December 6, 2022 Actually that’s not a bad contract. Good signing for Texas

I believe texas signing 2 UFA pitchers helps the BJ cause to bring back Chicken Strips. I had him earmarked for Texas being an Texas A & M alumni. Maybe we can do a 2 for 1 with Stripling and Wacha two ex college team mates reunited.
BTS Community Moderator Posted December 6, 2022 Posted December 6, 2022 The Red Sox under Chaim Bloom are an organization of ineffectual losers.
