Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted March 11, 2022 Posted March 11, 2022 Rockies pushing hard for Albert Pujols. I don't understand their strategy. Their strategy is to be the worst franchise in MLB. What they don't know is that they achieved that status like 2 years ago.

No shift in 2023 I bet he hits .290 25 homers, 110 rbis and -2.8 WAR while hitting his 720th homer and a bunch of other prizes, and challenging Dante Bichette and Joe Carter for the worst negative WAR while driving in 100 2022 - .267 21 83 -2 WAR 2023 (no shift) - .290 25 110 -2.8 WAR 2024 (no shift but now crazy old) - .244 15 77 RBIs -4.5 WAR (record?) late September 2024 big ceremony for retirement. 110 RBI at 44, 77 RBI at 45 that is pretty good!

I think he actually turns 50 in 2024.
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted March 11, 2022 Posted March 11, 2022 I think he actually turns 50 in 2024. He probably turned 50 5 years ago.
Ray Verified Member Posted March 11, 2022 Posted March 11, 2022 Kershaw back to the Dodgers on a 1 year deal.
Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted March 11, 2022 Posted March 11, 2022 That may rule out a suitor for Correa. Yankees or Astros is my guess.
Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted March 11, 2022 Posted March 11, 2022 No thanks. That just gives us a third player who is not quite good enough to start at third base.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted March 11, 2022 Posted March 11, 2022 No thanks. That just gives us a third player who is not quite good enough to start at third base. Yeah he doesn't add much of anything that we don't already have so we definitely need to aim higher IMO. Just another guy to throw in the pile along with Biggio, Espinal and Smith. All of whom I probably prefer over Villar. If they want to go cheap on the infield and then spend the money on pitching I suppose they could run a double platoon with Biggio and Villar against righties and Smith and Espinal against lefties.
BTS Community Moderator Posted March 11, 2022 Posted March 11, 2022 Didn't Villar have a terrible run here where he was universally hated?
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted March 11, 2022 Posted March 11, 2022 Didn't Villar have a terrible run here where he was universally hated? Yeah during the Covid year he was so bad for us for a month. On top of not hitting or fielding I think he ran into a ton of outs on top of it and basically found himself firmly planted on the bench. He had a decent bounceback year though.
saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted March 11, 2022 Posted March 11, 2022 Kershaw back to the Dodgers was fairly predictable.
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted March 11, 2022 Posted March 11, 2022 Villar might make sense if someone's interested in Biggio, but I can't imagine they'll sell low there...
saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted March 12, 2022 Posted March 12, 2022 He's part of the package for Bieber and Ramirez.
Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted March 12, 2022 Author Posted March 12, 2022 Villar might make sense if someone's interested in Biggio, but I can't imagine they'll sell low there... Villar left on pretty bad terms. Highly doubt he's good enough to warrant a return.
RobinThicc Verified Member Posted March 12, 2022 Posted March 12, 2022 Gotta be Yankees or Phillies for Correa
jerb Verified Member Posted March 12, 2022 Posted March 12, 2022 Jon Morosi @jonmorosi Sources: #Dodgers making a strong push for Freddie Freeman and have offered him a multiyear contract. @MLB @MLBNetwork
jerb Verified Member Posted March 12, 2022 Posted March 12, 2022 Cubs Zone ™️ @CubsZone The #Cubs are reportedly unwilling to pay near $300M or above for Carlos Correa, per @mikedeportes. Héctor Gómez @hgomez27 Hearing that the Yankees are willing to pay him that amount or above. As @jonmorosi reported, the expectation for Correa is that he’ll get something like a Lindor deal or better.

connorp Old-Timey Member Posted March 12, 2022 Posted March 12, 2022 Well, by “no other”, I mean NBA and NFL, which to me is all others
Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted March 12, 2022 Author Posted March 12, 2022 What does everyone think of bringing Dickerson back? He’ll probably be a cheap LH option for platoon/off the bench. Played well for us last year. I think he compliments the roster nicely if they cannot get someone better like Schwarber or Conforto Did you forget his noodle arm in the OF? I'd rather not waste a roster spot on a guy who is pretty much a DH since he doesn't bat well enough to be just that.
Virgil_Hiltz Verified Member Posted March 12, 2022 Posted March 12, 2022 No thanks. That just gives us a third player who is not quite good enough to start at third base. Agreed but if the Jays are in this to make another AL East team to overpay is alright with me.

They’ve been missing a solid SS since Didi left, and Gleyber has pretty much been a disaster with the glove.
RobinThicc Verified Member Posted March 12, 2022 Posted March 12, 2022 Dodgers possibly get Freeman, Yankees possibly get Correa. Jays get Ramirez pls
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted March 12, 2022 Posted March 12, 2022 Jeff Passan @JeffPassan Left-handed starter Carlos Rodón and the San Francisco Giants are in agreement on a two-year, $44 million contract that includes an opt-out after the first season, sources familiar with the deal tell ESPN. Damn, wanted that Mofo, but as Grant says, 2 years is risky. I was thinking 1/25, ah well.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted March 12, 2022 Posted March 12, 2022 Dodgers possibly get Freeman, Yankees possibly get Correa. Jays get Ramirez pls Yuh could you imagine. Yankees fans on a high after nabbing Correa and Ross just unzips and whips his dick out with a Ramirez trade. I’ve been saying a Ramirez + Bieber mega deal makes a lot of sense for the Jays.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted March 12, 2022 Posted March 12, 2022 When is Anthony Volpe expected to be up? Depends on how he does in AA, '23 maybe '24. He's likely a 2nd baseman.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted March 12, 2022 Posted March 12, 2022 Looks like Jays are out, they were driving up the money...
