When do QO's start, is their a date yet? I'm thinking it's somewhere near the first week of November right, I can't seem to find it?

ETA: Also, offer was 18.9M last year, surely it's gone up?

Maybe, but it could also go down. The QO is just the average salary of the games top 125 players from the previous season.

We’re all aware you have 10 days to accept the QO right? That offer doesn’t stay attached the entire offseason. You either take it or you become a FA.

If Matz is offered the QO he’s taking it and $19M of the available ~$70M this offseason is going to Steven Matz right off the hop. That’s a giant no from me.

QO has been determined at 18.4M for the upcoming season.

I know the number I’ve been quoting it for the last pages of this thread

Right, but what is it? When are they tendered? I know it's 10 days to accept.

You have a link, cause I can't find s*** at all. JH keeps saying it too. If you read that, you know the date too.

https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2021/10/jon-gray-has-reportedly-rejected-extension-offer-from-rockies.html

There’s been reported mutual interest between the Rox and Gray in a long-term deal for months, but the sides have yet to line up on acceptable terms. Saunders suggests the right-hander could target a three or four-year deal with an average annual value in the $9-10MM range on the open market. Whether that kind of deal would be attainable could depend upon whether the Rockies tag Gray with a qualifying offer. Doing so would entitle the Rockies to draft pick compensation were he to sign elsewhere, although he’d be a strong candidate to accept an $18.4MM offer to return in 2022.

Very similar numbers situation to Matz.

Is it my imagination, or does $9-10M seem pretty low for what Gray could get on the open market? I pictured him more in the ~$14-15M range.

Me too. I'd be absolutely thrilled with 4/40 any day all day, even with the QO attached.

I thought the same thing. 9 million per for Gray would be cheap IMO. I was thinking anywhere from 12-15. Same with Matz. There might be a lot of guys out this year looking for pillow deals if guys like Matz and Gray are only expected to land around 9m per over 4 years.

I think Barfield was explaining why he was no longer an alumni ambassador.

Well yeah, prob was intended to a discussion about overstepping and it got ugly. Team wouldn’t make something like that public but Barfield was sour grapes and did. Best guess of course

That's not what happened. Barfield clearly said afterward that he hadn't been removed as an Alumni Ambassador. Now that he's deleted all of those tweets he very well could have been removed but he hadn't been up until that point.

What actually happened, according to him, is that he secretly coached a few of the players to help them break out of slumps. He now believes he deserves credit for their offensive turnarounds and wants to parlay that into a paid Special Assistant position with the team. From the tone of his tweets, it seemed like he already asked the team for that and they hadn't called back, so he turned to social media because he thought he'd drum up a bunch of public pressure from his millions and millions of loyal fans and the team would have no choice but to offer him a cushy part-time position.

Only nobody actually cares about Jesse Barfield so his plan backfired and all he got out of it was that he made himself look like a psychotic and unprofessional chump that no organization will ever trust again because he can just wake up one day and say whatever the f*** he wants on Twitter, even if it compromises confidential information pertaining to the team or its players.

Super awkward. As if that would ever work. I doubt the Jays really think Barfield contributed that much. They had no problem expanding Dante Bichette's role in a similar scenario. If they thought Barfield was helping a lot they would have given a paid special assistant role no problem. Happens all the time.

f*** you Ed Rogers. We finally build a sustainable winner and you decide it's time to go batshit crazy and sabotage things? What a ****.

He was against re-signing Masai...actually called him before he signed and told him he wasn't worth what was being offered to him. Masai almost walked. Rest of the organization got into damage control mode and smoothed things over with Masai.

Ed's a real piece of s***.

This guy thought it was smart to accept an invitation to the Mar-A-Lago and take some pics with Trump, so I'm not super surprised he's a complete sabotaging moron.

Yesterday he declared himself back in as the Chairman. What a goof.

"Last week, Rogers was removed as chair of the company after details emerged about a plan he led to oust the company's CEO Joe Natale. His plan was to replace Natale with then-CFO Anthony Staffieri. Natale got word of the attempt when Staffieri reportedly butt-dialled him while discussing the plot with someone else."

This can't be real lol wtf

Oh it's real.

While out as chair of the company, he remained as chair of the family trust that has voting control over the company his father, Ted, founded. And he used his seat atop the trust to call a board meeting on Sunday with his hand-picked directors, a meeting at which he says he was reinstated.

So he gets voted out, then calls a secret meeting that has nobody in it except his own backers, takes a vote and says he is back in as Chairman.

But honestly, the scariest part of this whole thing is this:

The bizarre power struggle comes as the company is in the midst of trying to finalize the $26 billion takeover of Shaw Communications Inc.

If Rogers and Shaw merge.... that's dangerously close to a monopoly in a lot of the country. Sure... there's still Telus in the west, Bell in the east, but it's getting closer and closer to something that is no good for the consumer.

I'm seriously pissed off about the Rogers/Shaw merger. I get a fantastic deal on my cellphone plans as an existing upper tier Shaw internet customer and only pay $25 per month per device. I see zero chance of that continuing if the Rogers/Shaw merger is to go through.

If any of us thought that with Rogers as a corporate Owner, there would be no meddling in Blue Jays decisions by non-baseball minds, that's pretty much debunked.

This rogers crap better not impact the Jays offseason. This will be the most important offseason for us in our rebuilding window.

The CBA negotiations will be far more impacting than this sideshow.

This guy's a flippin' dildo, he's pulling Trudeau moves, lol. No way this flies.
