Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2021 Posted July 30, 2021 Possibly...but they have to get Ray locked up for that to happen. Ray is gonna get PAID. Thats going to be an issue coming up. Ray is going to have to get paid to stay, But we also have to start looking into locking up Vlad and Bo and lets face it thats not going to come cheap.
DigitalRock Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2021 Posted July 30, 2021 Possibly...but they have to get Ray locked up for that to happen. Ray is gonna get PAID. All comes down to if they extend Berrios and ray or replace ray with someone equivalent. Have to extend Bo and vlad too ugh....scared.
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2021 Posted July 30, 2021 I would have thought this FO had earned more respect from the fanbase. They have...but I'd also like to think that we're objective enough to call a spade a spade and not just nibble on Shatkins taint.

InvincibleTiger Verified Member Posted July 30, 2021 Posted July 30, 2021 Rogers must spend and ink Ray, Berrios, Bo, Vlad or else this could be catastrophic
DigitalRock Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2021 Posted July 30, 2021 Rogers must spend and ink Ray, Berrios, Bo, Vlad or else this could be catastrophic I love the smell of doom posters in the day.
FantasyNewb Verified Member Posted July 30, 2021 Posted July 30, 2021 f*** Shitkins! This is not what a sustainable team does. 2 of the top 4 prospects for a player who is just good, not dominate. Check out his percentile rankings. He's a little bit better than average. He's not an ace.
thatoneguy Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2021 Posted July 30, 2021 Rogers must spend and ink Ray, Berrios, Bo, Vlad or else this could be catastrophic I like how even in a thread where very critical posts are made of the organization, you still somehow manage to blow it completely out of proportion.
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2021 Author Posted July 30, 2021 I'm still pissed Rogers or a salary-eaten Donaldson weren't in this trade, lol. The Jays still need a bonafide pen arm and a defensive upgrade at 3B and if they want to still shop for it, they'll have to pay even more than they already have.
JaysAllMighty Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2021 Posted July 30, 2021 This is who we are getting, how can you not like this:
DigitalRock Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2021 Posted July 30, 2021 Berrios was crying and seemed upset to be leaving Minny, hope he ends up liking and signing here long term.
Solaxys Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2021 Posted July 30, 2021 I just love that he's young (27) and really hope he signs an extension and becomes part of the core.

Bringing back JD for another playoff run just feels right.

Yeah he's 27, entering his prime and has been good for years, still laughing at the guy comparing this trade to trading for near 40 year old knuckleballer dickey.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2021 Posted July 30, 2021 Bringing back JD for another playoff run just feels right. I’d love this but I’m pretty certain JD and our FO hate each other (and a lot of people hate JD).

They did not leave on good terms at all....... Would never happen and he may not be the guy to have leading a bunch of young players.

John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2021 Posted July 30, 2021 Do we bite? Well Kimbrel just got dealt to the White Sox, so that's 1 more option unavailable
Eat My Shatkins Verified Member Posted July 30, 2021 Posted July 30, 2021 f*** I wanted Kimbrel added to our bullpen so bad. What's the Jays equivalent of Madrigal? Biggio?
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2021 Posted July 30, 2021 Biggio/Gurriel are prime candidates to be moved for more pitching. Bring up Kevin Smith for 3B. If you noticed, Biggio is not part of the Vlad, Springer, Teo, Bo, Gurriel posse, so probably him.
KevinGregg Verified Member Posted July 30, 2021 Posted July 30, 2021 If you trade biggio and play smith at 3b then what’s the plan for 2b next year, Espinal for a few months and then hope groshans is ready?

TheHurl Site Manager Posted July 30, 2021 Posted July 30, 2021 It doesn't have to be a catastrophic drop in perception but look: The Mets were comfortable letting SWR go and Martin was passed over in a somewhat surprising fashion by like three MLB teams in the draft. All it takes is for the general consensus on them to be down, from the GMs that are selling right now. Maybe that means Martin is more of a 50-100 level guy and SWR is a backend top 100 guy. Martin is hitting for ZERO power and SWR is walking a ton of guys without a fantastic FB; those are some pretty big concerns. The pitching is pretty bad on the teams which are selling right now too. I just can't see the Rockies saying yes to this package for Marquez. Phillies (Nola) and Braves have the same playoffs odds as the Jays. Marlins have no one healthy and probably are not selling an answer for the Jays. Twins were in a great position
King Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2021 Posted July 30, 2021 Berrios was crying and seemed upset to be leaving Minny, hope he ends up liking and signing here long term. Can't blame him for that, he's been with them since 2012. Reminds me of Wilmer Flores crying on the field when there was trade rumours swirling with the Mets. I think it's tough when it's the only team you ever know.

max silver Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2021 Posted July 30, 2021 Yeah he's 27, entering his prime and has been good for years, still laughing at the guy comparing this trade to trading for near 40 year old knuckleballer dickey. It's not that complicated to find parallels. One elite prospect and one very good prospect sent out for a very good but not elite pitcher with limited remaining control. See some similarities now?
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2021 Posted July 30, 2021 f*** I wanted Kimbrel added to our bullpen so bad. What's the Jays equivalent of Madrigal? Biggio? Probably but I think the ceiling on Biggio is higher because of his power potential, Madrigal barely hits doubles, he's a slappy singles guy.
Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2021 Posted July 30, 2021 Do we bite? Sure, might as well give them Kirk, Groshans, Martinez and Pearson. Then I'd love to see people here rationalize the trade.
