Rowdy Tellez is destined for the Korean Baseball Organization. He's not a big leaguer

Tommy Milone seems like the obvious choice.

With the lack of innings provided by the starters I just can't see Montoyo giving up a net bullpen spot. Now if we replaced Milone with a better RP...

We all want Roark gone but won't happen until we get at least Ray back of course

Though TBH I'd take a bullpen game over another Roark start at this point

Staff takes on a total different look once we have Pearson and Ray back......even Anthony Kay.

I doubt if Roark lasts till end of May...maybe sooner.

I remember the days when teams got by with 7 man bullpens. Now we wonder if 9 is enough! Hopefully Matz and Ray can give us innings. Hopefully we can get to an 8 man bullpen.

Crazy how we have a separate thread for Tellez sucking after 6 games but not for Springer who might be gone for a whole. Someone tell us what's happening with him plssss

Team is tight lipped:

https://www.sportsnet.ca/mlb/blue-jays-juggling-health-workloads-wake-latest-springer-injury/sn-amp/?__twitter_impression=true

The latest word from the organization — which strictly controls the flow of information with reporters covering the team from afar — is that the club is "still gathering information to see where he is."

"His live BP was fine. There’s no issues with the oblique. But his leg did feel a little tight. But we don’t know how badly," Montoyo said. "Everybody’s concerned — because with those injuries, you just never know where they are. It’s tough because you’ve got to be careful. Just like with the oblique. Because if you pull it worse, then you’re really out for a long time.

"That’s the one thing about those injuries. That’s for anybody. We have to be patient and be careful. You know how badly he wants to play. That’s why after everything that happened yesterday, he talked to [the media] and he felt like he still wanted to play. But then, as the day went on, he felt, ‘OK, this is still tight.’ So, that’s why we ended up getting an MRI."

Thread is an overreaction, but someone has to go when Springer is activated and it won't be Grichuk, Panik, Kirk or a bullpen arm, that's for sure.

It will probably be Davis, which is a shame, but y'know...

Won't be much playing time for him I suppose

And we don't have many guys to pinch run for

This guy reminds me of Pedro Alvarez big left handed power hitter who led the Pirates in HR in 2015 only to be non tendered pick up by the oiroles in 2016 struggled for few years with lot Ks with limited playing time he was dfaed in 2018. Rowdy seem to heading down the same path this game has no place for one denensional bench players some time a team need a pinch runner a defensive player or hitter for avg non that fits Tellez credentials.

Charlie digs this thread. With Rowdy headed to the Korean league he feels fully justified playing Panik full time....

Seems inevitable that Rowdy will end up in some alternative league or the other and Kirk in triple a. Charlie doesn't seem to believe in either for some reason.

Note: Neither would ever lose at bats to Panik if Charlie believed in them. Charlie = Cito with bunting.

Done with Charlie, doesn't seem at all like he is really a young player development guy that bunts because he is actually super intelligent and realizes he is costing the team, but not that much, and thinks the bunting has a psychological benefit.

Charlie is an idiot who likes bunting and Joe Panik.

Note - not really defending Tellez here... if Tellez was sitting for Kirk as DH I'd be fine with it.

Good manager algoritithm

Play young guy, young guy struggle play different young guy. Develop, develop young guy. Don't bunt. Get on base. Pull starter early but not too early, but not too late.

Bad manager algorithm

Play Joe Panik, bunt, bench young guy, bench younger guy, play Joe Panik, bunt, don't worry about getting on base. Be aggressive. Run fast. Steal. Bunt. Play Joe Panik.

KBO is not a bad place to end up. I would love to live in South Korea. Plus Korean girls are hot as f***. Sounds like Rowdy is going to do alright for himself

Rowdy can definitely run into some cookies, but he has the longest swing and slowest hands that I've seen from a power hitter in quite some time. Not to mention his terrible plate discipline.

What do the Jays see in him? A team needs someone who can produce at the 1B/DH position and Tellez just doesn't have the upside.

He's the perfect player to go play in Korea. He reminds me of a Roberto Ramos type player.

He's clearly not a 5 Tool Phenom

Rowdy’s at bat tonight looked pretty good. Put him back in the lineup tomorrow and see what he does

I have a feeling Biggio or an OF'er will DH, Montoyo's been resting guys everyday lately. Might see Davis in. It's kind of hard following Montoyo's derp.

I’m betting Grichuk DH, he’s probably sore from all those dives tonight

Good call, now we shall see. Rowdy's AB was pretty good, maybe we see a full lineup tomorrow, lol.

Roberto Ramos? I never even heard of Roberto so had to look up. He seems to be a 5'11" right handed hitter. Why did he remind you of Rowdy? Just because he was bad. Countless hitters are bad and don't make it.

Did you see Ramos play? Have a connection somehow?

What about Juan Francisco? Why doesn't Rowdy remind you of Juan Francisco?

I know it's small sample size, but currently the Blue Jays are ranked 23rd in baseball with 77 wRC+, 24th in offensive rating, 23rd in OBP, 23rd in wOBA, 20th in strikeouts,

When they hit the ball it's been very succesful: 13th in barrel %, 6th in hard hit%, 7th in average exit velo.

The Jays were projected to be a top offensive team with Springer, so the bats are definitely off to a slow start.

The best positions have been 1B (5th - Thanks Vlad), 2B (9th), SS (13th), 3B (14th).

The Jay are tied with the Pirates for last in baseball with -0.3 WAR at their DH position with more than half the plate appearances coming from Rowdy Tellez and Joe Panik.

They're also tied for 22nd at Outfield (LF+RF+CF) and 27th at Catcher.

I'm not too worried about outfield as Springer will return eventually and Gurriel + Teoscar are streaky, but having the worst DH production in baseball doesn't make much sense for a team trying to make the post-season.

Maybe we should have expected some of the younger players to come out of the gates slow, under the weight of expectations they've never really dealt with before. I'm not the least bit worried. If they suck at the end of April we can panic together.

I’m not asking for much, just give hot bats more ABs.

No need to cycle through cold hitters into the DH slot like we’re trying to get everyone to participate like the YMCA.

I’m not saying DFA Tellez, just no need to give him everyday playing time. I get the sense the Jays interest in Michael Brantley weren’t just rumours, he would’ve made some sense in this lineup.

Yeah, but most of them are cold, what can ya do? Hell, Panik's been acceptable. lol

Also, no Semien if we get Brantley, and Grichuk would have to be moved.

Nah. Last thing I want it Buntoyo trying to play the hot hand.

Tellez might be the odd man out once Springer is back anyway.

Sure would been nice to get Brantley signed so they could have put Tellez on the back burner, or cut ties altogether.

.538 .600 1.077 1.677

That's Brantley's line so far..

Yeah, Brantley was a perfect fit for this roster.

If Brantley was on this team, then either Vlad is playing 3rd (with Tellez on 1st) or Panik is in our starting lineup. Semien with Tellez/Grichuk combo at DH is vastly superior.
