saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted March 21, 2021 Posted March 21, 2021 Watching Roark today and seeing Paxton strike out Yelich with a 96 mph heater on twitter today makes me sick to my stomach. I wish we would have signed paxton and punted Roark. It would have been fun hearing people(Buck and Pat included) complaining that you can't have 4 lefties in the rotation without looking up to realize both Ryu and Paxton have reverse splits. Paxton with 8 ks in 4.1 today...8.5 for Paxton was a steal.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted March 21, 2021 Posted March 21, 2021 Some of Paxton's K victims: Luke Maile Freddy Peralta JBJ Orlando Arcia Kolten Wong Paxton might end up be good in 2021, but its ST. Too early to conclude a missed opportunity by the Jays FO.

saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted March 21, 2021 Posted March 21, 2021 Inb4 Paxton makes 3 starts and blows his arm out again Could be, but that's why he signed for 8.5. It's not a talent issue, it's a health issue. If he is healthy this year he's a 25+ mil pitcher. Some weren't sure he could get the velocity back. 96 in spring training without regular season adrenaline seems pretty good. Personally I hope he stays healthy so we can trade for him at the deadline!

gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted March 22, 2021 Posted March 22, 2021 Tomorrow night's game at home versus Detroit is being televised on SN 6:30pm.
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted March 22, 2021 Posted March 22, 2021 Hey, we get to let Pat Tabler wow us all again with his "baseball for dummies" colour commentary Monday night.
bendera3 Verified Member Posted March 22, 2021 Posted March 22, 2021 I was thinking the same thing. These guys have spent more time talking about their lackluster careers than the game itself lol. I went to school for audio/video/tv production and took a few classes in actually being talent and it's not something everyone can do. Pretty much everything is scripted at least somewhat including live sporting events. If you have noticed for the most part most broadcasting teams have a mix of professional broadcasters and former players. Even though it's not baseball I think the best example of this I can remember would be Inside the NBA in the 2000s where Ernie Johnson played point guard in the broadcast with Kenny and Charles. He was the one that kept the show moving forward and everyone on target.
Olerud363 Old-Timey Member Posted March 22, 2021 Posted March 22, 2021 Kirby Yates out for several weeks according to Wilner and others. What is the status of the rest of them? Who is the closer now? T.J. Zeuch maybe with 80% ground ball rate? (kidding) Romano, Castro, Phelps, Dolis, Chatwood.... Kay, Liriano, Bourocki? Will they do fine or are we doomed?

The Blue Jays are continuing to gather information about his injury. More to come.
