I really hope that the reason for his uptick in stuff and control isn't due to some goop he has been slathering on the ball....

Check out his spin rates this year compared to previous and you'll find your answer.

Spin rate has actually decreased! Good shout!

Ray is a pretty blatant user of sticky stuff.

He bathes his (likely sunscreened) arm in rosin and goes to it with his fingers all the time.

This isn't really what MLB is finally looking to crack down on. It's more the guys who are literally glueing the ball to their fingers that are under the crosshairs.

Pretty sure that's allowed. It's the super glue that the other guys are using that is illegal.

what? the rosin/sunscreen application is not legal. There's also a very good chance almost everyone in baseball has moved onto something better than that concoction.

Okay, it's not technically legal, but they can't police it. I wouldn't say almost everyone. Just the pitchers that had a jump in RPM.

Love these satiric plots. Even though they're meant to be ironic, they always tell you something.

I guess all the Yankees fans complaining about never having baserunners is a legitimate gripe, lmao.

Pretty funny Twitter thread involving Mets players after a fan accused DeGrom of using foreign substances on the ball:

His teammates say he pitches clean? Good enough for me!

The sad thing is, if Cole had answered "yes" with no hesitation and no remorse, it would have been better than the answer he actually gave.

Lol @ Ke'Bryan Hayes. Got called out on a HR because he didn't touch first.

Mentioned this a bit ago and you attacked me for it, remember?

Yeah, likely 8 weeks ago. What's with you and chucking the word attacked all the time, punani?!

Nah, Rendon was coming back off the IL, and I didn't attack anybody... how's this an attack, also Jim admits Rendon is good right after my post.

lol... he's too old for Jim.

Now he's correct a couple months into the season, do you think Rendon's s***? Please... he's been terrible this season thus far, but his track record and projections didn't foresee this, yer dumn.

perhaps I missed this, but the Phillies DFA'd Scott Kingery, who cleared waivers, was taken off the 40 man roster and sent to AAA. He seems completely broken.

What a fall from such a promising prospect. Lucky he signed that contract before he made it to the majors.

People always cry about coercion and manipulation and power imbalances when players sign extensions before they debut, but we've seen enough of those guys flop at this point to prove that teams are legitimately taking big risks when they do this. Kingery, Evan White, the pot head 1B in Houston from several years ago. Singleton.
