Manfred should have unjuiced the balls after he made all the changes he's testing out in the minors/Atlantic League. He had to know that doing it beforehand was going to cause this end result. Although TV/streaming numbers/overall interest in the sport seems to be up this season compared to previous years, so maybe fans don't mind the pitching dominance.

What the hell is going on in Anaheim? They were down 14-0 and now it's 14-11. Crazy

That's what happens when you try to play 4d chess with Kershaw and discover later you're actually playing checkers.

Was there any statcast data on the Gurriel throw? I feel like that’s one of the craziest Outfield throws I have ever seen and nobody is talking about it.

I just noticed Joe Jimenez's stats from his first two games this year. 1 IP, 5 ER, 0 Hits, 7 Walks, 2 Ks. I'm not sure I've ever seen a reliever give up 5 runs on no hits before.

So he walked in 3 runs, 1 by Sac-fly, and the last run was scored either a WP or HBP, I'm guessing. :P

Terrible stat line, lol.

Now that he's back, healthy and once again dominant, I will ask. Where does Yordan Alvarez rank amongst the best hitters in baseball?

488 PA's

.320 / .404 / .647

Trevor Rosenthal two years ago came pretty close.

He's up there in consideration to hitting, he's different from the top tier concerning position. Plus health.

How can you possibly tell what's coming

I've heard that some batters can recognize the spin, but that is pretty outrageous stuff from Scherzer.

Scherzer is 36 now and a free agent next off season.

I wonder what kind of contract he'll be looking to sign? I'd love to see the Jays get him.

I'd like to trade for him at the deadline this year if the Nats are out

He must be proud... :P

Silky smooth.

Here's the video with more replays:

Looks even better in real-time.

Yeah, what a turn man, you don't see much better than that.

MAY 10: In what’ll surely be a sigh of relief for Mets’ fans, it seems deGrom’s MRI revealed no serious issues. Jon Morosi of MLB Network (Twitter link) reports New York is optimistic he won’t require an extended absence, although his next scheduled start may be pushed back. The Mets have off days today and Thursday, so they needn’t rearrange the rotation much to give deGrom an extra few days to recover. Morosi adds that a short-term IL stint remains a possibility, but it seems deGrom has avoided any especially worrisome injury.

Hopefully they got a more reliable PR team than the Jays

Some not-so-fun facts about the "deadened" ball this year:

The MLB as a whole in 2021 currently has the lowest batting average, literally, in baseball history. Lower than the 1800s, lower than the dead-ball era and yes, 3 points lower than even the 1968 "year of the pitcher" that resulted in the mound being lowered.

2021 also has the highest strikeout rate in history at a whopping 24.1 K% leaguewide. To put that into perspective, Nolan Ryan had a career 25.3% strikeout rate. The MLB as a whole at this point is essentially Nolan Ryan when it comes to drawing strikeouts.

I didn't think they'd ever find a commissioner worse than Bud Selig, but those crazy bastards went and did it on their very next try!
