Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted November 24, 2020 Posted November 24, 2020 Not anything he can't buy his way out of in Mexico. The issue is what if any action MLB would take..
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted November 24, 2020 Posted November 24, 2020 Underpinnings of racism in there Jim Really, how? This is common everywhere, using a kid as a bargaining chip.
Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted November 24, 2020 Posted November 24, 2020 Ruh-Roh... didn't he just get married?
connorp Old-Timey Member Posted November 24, 2020 Posted November 24, 2020 Really, how? This is common everywhere, using a kid as a bargaining chip. It insinuated that the mother is probably dirt poor since she’s in a dirt poor country and so when her ex came around for the kid, she decided to shake him down. It is certainly not common for a mother to demand more money when the father comes to pick up the kid

keggy Verified Member Posted November 24, 2020 Posted November 24, 2020 D'Arnaud as well. Anibal Sanchez put up 2.5 wins in 2018 for $1 million as well. Anthopoulos has somehow grinded out like 15 wins on the open market for $50-60 million. The rates go down if you count stinkers like the Hamels contract, but he doesn't have many of those.

Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted November 25, 2020 Posted November 25, 2020 Engaged maybe. She is not his baby mama though Yeah, I read more into the story... he did recently get married. He's been sending baby mama money and obviously something was wrong there.

Laika Community Moderator Posted November 25, 2020 Posted November 25, 2020 This is not relevant to my interests. That's a weird one. Similar players. Both former 1st rounders flirting with bust status. Not sure I see the angle. Hoffman has an extra year of control... Stephenson was good in 2019 and his K/BB was fine in 2020.

Hoffman has an extra year of control... Stephenson was good in 2019 and his K/BB was fine in 2020. There was a point in 2019 where I thought Stephenson was breaking out as an elite reliever. I think his swinging strike % was pushing 20% for most of the season. Hoffman hasn't really ever shown promise like that. Seems like a weird trade for the Reds.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted November 25, 2020 Posted November 25, 2020 This is such a Rockies trade. No one of note being moved or acquired, team not really attempting to fix any of their glaring holes.
Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted November 25, 2020 Posted November 25, 2020 This is not relevant to my interests. Remember LTBF... wouldn't trade Hoffman for Trout comment, lol.

No other team in the league would benefit more from a forward-thinking analytical front office than them.
Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted November 26, 2020 Posted November 26, 2020 (edited) Such a bad organization. No other team in the league would benefit more from a forward-thinking analytical front office than them. My biggest criticism of them is their prospect development at the MLB level. It is like a really good prospect graveyard due to the how they use them, call them up and deny them ABs and sign or keep s***** vets that block them. Edited November 26, 2020 by Carlos Danger
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted November 26, 2020 Posted November 26, 2020 NOVEMBER 26: Arozarena has been released from detention, per a report from Mexican newspaper PorEsto (via John Romano of the Tampa Bay Times). Arozarena and his former partner reached an agreement in which she declined to pursue legal action, reports ESPN’s Victor Alvarez. (The player’s attorney told PorEsto the presiding judge had determined there was not enough evidence for the outfielder to face charges). The MLB/MLBPA domestic violence policy permits the league to levy discipline even in the absence of criminal charges, so the league is expected to continue its investigation.

We all knew that was coming, it depends now what the MLB will do. Looking much better for Arozarena now.

Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted November 30, 2020 Posted November 30, 2020 Multi year deal, apparently...
Laika Community Moderator Posted November 30, 2020 Posted November 30, 2020 Multi year deal, apparently... Still no report about the AAV but this could be an important one in terms of setting the market. If it's a decent AAV and this triggers a surprisingly normal SP market then Toronto's early Robbie Ray deal will look wise. Of course it could also be a decent AAV and then we look back and just say that KC overpaid.

Of course it could also be a decent AAV and then we look back and just say that KC overpaid. Ray had a couple seasons of solid backend SP and then this last season he was literally one of the worst SP in baseball. He’s got some potential but I think that’s reflected in the 1/8. What would you expect for him in a normal market?
