Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted August 16, 2020 Posted August 16, 2020 We got REALLY lucky that Romano got returned from the rule 5... Yeah we did. I was never a believer but he looks great.
Ex Player Verified Member Posted August 16, 2020 Posted August 16, 2020 (edited) So are they gonna play a doubleheader today?? I don't see any confirmation on the schedule. And wouldnt it make sense to restart play where they left off (in the 4th inning)?? Edited August 16, 2020 by Ex Player

King Old-Timey Member Posted August 16, 2020 Posted August 16, 2020 Nevermind, leave it to Karen to find offense in the most innocuous places Please Boxy. Think of the hobos.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted August 16, 2020 Posted August 16, 2020 Please Boxy. Think of the hobos. I feel bad for homeless people. That doesn't mean they get monopoly on a word that can mean multiple things. The Jays are homeless. There's nothing inaccurate or offensive about that.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted August 16, 2020 Posted August 16, 2020 Ugh. Starting SS Joe Panik. Can't wait.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted August 16, 2020 Posted August 16, 2020 Would be so great if Lourdes could take over SS while Bo is out... would allow Fisher to get everyday ABs when he comes back. Probably not worth trying it though
BlueRocky Old-Timey Member Posted August 16, 2020 Posted August 16, 2020 Why can’t we have nice things
Ziggyy108 Verified Member Posted August 16, 2020 Posted August 16, 2020 Trade deadline is in 2 weeks haha How do you guys think Shatkins will approach it ... Giles, Shoemaker, Bass, Panik are UFA's after the year. I think the best route with Giles is to offer him the qualifying offer this offseason. He's not healthy enough to get any value this year. I don't think they will take the risk and extend him. If he accepts the QO we have him on a bloated one year deal. Not terrible at all for a guy with his upside. If he choses FA then they get a comp pick. Shoemaker and Bass I could see being moved similar to how Shatkins have moved there vets on expiring contracts the last couple years (Joe Smith, Steve Pearce, Eric Sogard, Daniel Hudson, Josh Phelps, Aaron Loup) Panik should not be in the big leagues I guess Chase Anderson could be in the conversation. Maybe Dolis too. Both have options for next year if the Jays want them around.
Laika Community Moderator Posted August 16, 2020 Posted August 16, 2020 Giles - they won't get offered anything. Panik - nobody will want him. Shoe - okay chance he gets dealt. Bass - okay chance he gets dealt. Shaw - small chance he gets dealt? Anderson - small chance he gets dealt.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted August 16, 2020 Posted August 16, 2020 I don’t think any team is giving up any assets for this year’s deadline, would be extremely stupid. Maybe the Orioles and Angels would move pieces. Maybe
LGBJ29 Verified Member Posted August 16, 2020 Posted August 16, 2020 What happens if the season gets canned in like three weeks because of another breakout or two? If there are no clauses in place I'd imagine teams aren't giving up anything more than scraps this deadline
Laika Community Moderator Posted August 16, 2020 Posted August 16, 2020 Yeah I think most moves will be relatively minor. Toronto has no pieces of real value to move anyway
Barkerfan23 Verified Member Posted August 16, 2020 Posted August 16, 2020 Bichette needs to be OK ofcourse something has to happen to him in a game against Tampa
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted August 16, 2020 Posted August 16, 2020 Bo on 10 day IL If that’s the case. They should seriously just punt this season. Just get the highest draft pick possible because this team doesn’t have a chance of winning without Bo. Sadly we don’t even have any veterans with trade value. Possibly Shoemaker if he gets rolling. Probably should keep Shaw because he has another cheap year of control.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted August 16, 2020 Posted August 16, 2020 Montoyo's favourite joining team, I bet we see him pitch in this game.

Barkerfan23 Verified Member Posted August 16, 2020 Posted August 16, 2020 wow even Spanky has turned his back on Montoyo

I don't think any team is going to take the Covid Championship seriously enough to trade anything of significance for a 1 month rental. Maybe best case the Jays can turn Bass or Shoemaker into Hatch part II, but without a minor league season, it's going to be difficult to even pull that off.
dineke Old-Timey Member Posted August 16, 2020 Posted August 16, 2020 Boy do I miss the Donaldson/Bautista/Stroman/Reyes(?) days. Shitheads with fire that actually know how to play the game of baseball and give a f***. would help if the manager wasn't dumb as f*** though. It's the blind leading the blind out there.
