fireballW Verified Member Posted July 28, 2019 Posted July 28, 2019 Would be hard to believe someone would offer up anything too good for Giles at this point.
Ziggyy108 Verified Member Posted July 29, 2019 Posted July 29, 2019 Still a few guys that could be dealt. I don't think Sanchez is traded but we'll see. Giles Sanchez Hudson Phelps Biagini Smoak Galvis And then hopefully Grichuk

The guy they paid well before they had to after a small window of success.

Slade Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2019 Posted July 29, 2019 Braves interested in Biagini from Rosenthal.

I wonder what the trade return would be.

Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2019 Posted July 29, 2019 Didn't see this posted anywhere. The Rays gave up on Christian Arroyo, who probably sucks, and traded him to the Indians along with Hunter Wood for a minor leaguer I've never heard of and $250k in international pool money.
Todd Van Anus Verified Member Posted July 29, 2019 Posted July 29, 2019 It's still an indicator that we should expect to be disappointed with the return. Well this is interesting.
Todd Van Anus Verified Member Posted July 29, 2019 Posted July 29, 2019 If the return for Cashner is any indication, we wont be getting much for Stroman. And this.

Todd Van Anus Verified Member Posted July 29, 2019 Posted July 29, 2019 Isn't Giles still under contract for next season? If he's injured, then they just trade him next year.
jaysguy44 Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2019 Posted July 29, 2019 I personally would rather hang in to Sanchez at this point, his value around the league isn't worth trading him right now.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2019 Posted July 29, 2019 I personally would rather hang in to Sanchez at this point, his value around the league isn't worth trading him right now. Yeah, no reason to move him right now.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2019 Posted July 29, 2019 On the bright side, if the Jays get nothing for Sanchez, it would be justifiable given his value at the moment. I wouldn't trade him either. A Boras client will bust his ass to be good in his walk year. Sanchez sucks, but I'll take a chance on his 2020 season given how low his value is now. If he sucks again, then cut bait, but not like we are dripping with 2020 rotation options. Keep him and pray.

His fastball with movement and his curveball over a couple of innings 3/4 times a week could be really valuable. If it worked, this time next year he’d be a pretty valuable asset.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2019 Posted July 29, 2019 I’d be pretty livid if they sold this low on Sanchez. If they want to trade him at least try to rebuild some value next year. If he gets injured again then fine, but i’d rather not just let him go for scraps without giving him one last shot next year.
Todd Van Anus Verified Member Posted July 29, 2019 Posted July 29, 2019 Sanchez is represented by Scott Boras.

He had the mid-late relief role in 2015. He had a FIP of 4.61 and LHH chewed him up. I don't think he has gotten any better. Who wants a guy in high leverage that gives up that much hard contact and BBs so many hitters.

Sanchez as a reliever has a 3.15 xFIP, 2.93 FIP, and 1.67 ERA covering 59.1 innings.

Didn't he still struggle against LHH in the pen? I still dont think he has gotten better and I don't think he would be an elite reliever.

I still dont think he has gotten better and I don't think he would be an elite reliever. It's a very small sample size (23.2 innings vs lefties). He held them to a .181/.277/.265 slash line and 2.66 ERA, but a 4.20 xFIP due to the higher walks and lack of K's. It is worth noting that he held them to an 11.4% hard hit percentage and ~62% ground ball rate.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2019 Posted July 29, 2019 The Brewers have DFA'd Marcos Diplan to make room for their Jordan Lyles acquisition. He seems to be a carbon copy of Hector Perez to me, maybe worth a claim and hope that he breaks out as a reliever? I would imagine he's someone that will get traded in the upcoming days, but certainly one that you should be able to offer an unknown minor leaguer for to acquire.
Slade Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2019 Posted July 29, 2019 This is why people hate Ross Atkins. How hard is it to say Aaron is garnering some interest but we like having him here? or something to that regard.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2019 Author Posted July 29, 2019 Lol Atkins is a dumbass. 3 weeks ago they were pitching him 3 days in a row. Now they want to treat him with kid gloves.
