Hey Guys

Would you do a swap for Happ and Sonny Gray. Gray has one more year of control and isn't having as horrible a season people are making it out to be. Plus if he is good next year he could possibly even a bigger piece at the next trade deadline. Let me know your thoughts.

I would, yes, unless we can pry a high end prospect away from someone. All his road numbers are in line with his career numbers, he just can't seem to pitch in Yankee Stadium.

That's a really good return. 2 solid prospects and a PTBNL

“Solid prospects” is generous. 2 lottery tickets and a ptbnl is more accurate.

Mediocre return and they should have tried to get an arm.

What is with everyone's obsession for getting arms? Who cares? Taking a lesser prospect just because he's an arm is bad asset management. Get the best prospects regardless of position.

Yeah, I'm happy with that. Wall is a guy you can dream a little on, although probably in left field unless his speed has rebounded a bit from the last reports.

I meant an arm rated higher than the two s*** prospects we got. They will be ranked below Alford on Todd’s mid season prospect listing.

I'm surprised with the amount of people that expected a much better package than when got for Oh

I think that Zach Britton trade raised expectations. I'm not disappointed with the return, its what I expected about a week ago. It's not one to get excited about either though

I thought/was hoping the extra year of Oh would net something better. He's been a 1 WAR RP so far with 2 months to go in the season so performance was there. It's probably fair overall though.

I’m not. Expectations vs reality around here needs to be calibrated. People still think they’re landing Frazier for Happ

What? I just said you were wrong stating the Jays received two solid prospects in return.

I don’t think that’s an unreasonable opinion.

I never stated that?

So eloquently put. f***ing mongoloid.

A) The Rockies have a s*** farm darn near devoid of interesting pitching prospects

B) This return is solid for a vet reliever we signed to a dirt cheap deal just a few months ago. No one was ever going to give us a top prospect for him

Spanberger is just a guy. C- prospect. Power and not much else as far as I'm concerned. Org guy. Wall is more intriguing. He's has tools... Mind you they haven't translated as much as you'd have hoped, especially given his $2m signing bonus, but the skills are there. Maybe a change of scenery sparks something. He's 22 in AA so he's really not old. B- prospect for me. 15-20 in our ranking I think... With the option to move up quickly should he put it together.

Vet reliever performing exceptionally well signed for another year after this season to an incredibly cheap deal.

I’d expect more than the #13 prospect from a pretty terrible farm.

You do realize that Chad Spanberger has a lifetime .595 slugging percentage ?? He's an interesting lottery ticket. Forrest Wall is a former 1st round high schooler who has been a bit up and down, and seems to have had a major injury last year. This year he may be running into some bad luck in aa, as his numbers look OK other than avg.

I highly doubt either of them will be ranked below Alford on Todd's list. Todd seems to be pretty stubborn about Alford, and I am guessing Alford will rank 110th or lower after the trade deadline, once Todd has a chance to evaluate the new acquisitions and a lot of the new draft picks.

Jays just need to add talent. Doesn't matter if it's P or hitting. Just take the best deal you can get. Minor leaguers are movable parts. You can trade them for pitching later.

Everyone should be happy that the Oh signing turned into any type of prospect return.

A+++++ Shatkins

When a team expresses interest in your 36 year old RHRP throwing 91-92, who was replacement level last year, you don't mess around. You close that deal ASAP because it's a buyer's market for that type of s***, always.

How often do guys show the kind of power Spanberger has?? He's hit 41 homeruns in a seasons worth of games, and has a lifetime .590ish slugging percentage. That may mean nothing... who knows. However I'd be interested in seeing who his top 10 comparables are and what happened to them, before rushing to judgement.

Well if Spanberger has never been injured we already know he has a 70 WAR future ahead of him. Wall’s injuries clearly mean he’s a write-off already.

Yes he is old but mind you this is only his 3rd year in the MLB and he was coming off of a pretty s***** year last year your not going to get a top 10 prospect for a relief pitcher that has not shown sustained success in the majors, you have to be realistic.

I highly doubt they turned away better offers so it would seem that the issue here was that your expectation was overly ambitious.

I’ve 180’d on this deal. On Olerud’s Projected Wins Above Replacement From Never Being Injured sliding scale, Spanberger is a sure thing!
