Joel Sherman just said that he's heard the Jays like Drury and that Drury is available. That's all I took from his tweet. I doubt it was related to anything specific like the Jays wanting him in return.

10:18PM: “The industry belief” is that the Yankees and Brewers are the front-runners for Happ, Sherman writes. The Cubs still “might be in play,” though Chicago also asked the Jays about Marcus Stroman. In another tweet, Sherman mentions that the Blue Jays like Yankees infielder Brandon Drury.

9:33PM: The Yankees still look like the favorite for Happ right now, with Feinsand calling them “the leader” of the teams in pursuit, and SNYTV’s Andy Martino saying the Bombers are “in strong position.” A trade may not be imminent, as Joel Sherman of the New York Post hears that a deal is “unlikely” to take place tonight. (All links to Twitter.) Both Feinsand and Martino list the Cubs and Brewers still being involved, with Martino adding the Rockies as a new team to the Happ rumor mill. Feinsand feels the number of teams in on Happ will result in a nice trade return for the Blue Jays.

That probably explains why the Oh deal is not complete yet.

How has the Oh return not been confirmed yet, even if it’s pending medicals?

The Milwaukee #Brewers realize the urgency to land a starter and J.A. Happ is a perfect fit, particularly going from the AL East to the NL Central, but #Yankees loom as biggest threat to intercept their plans, with #Cubs also in mix

Yeah I don't understand what the hold up is. Neither team has said anything.

Hopefully they mixed up Drury with Sheffield, not sure why Shatkins would like Drury.

Also heard, as @Joelsherman1 did, that #Yankees’ Drury is in play for possible Happ trade with #BlueJays. Could lead to expanded deal; NYY also has inquired on TOR backup catching, per source.

Pass. I'd rather eat Martin's salary for a better return.

Good thing it’s not your money, haha.

Well your not going to get rid of martin unless you eat money and that is pretty much fact.

Pretty sure they could attach $20 to Martin and still not get an actual asset back for him.

Hey Guys

Would you do a swap for Happ and Sonny Gray. Gray has one more year of control and isn't having as horrible a season people are making it out to be. Plus if he is good next year he could possibly even a bigger piece at the next trade deadline. Let me know your thoughts.

No your not likely going to compete next year so what is the point of getting someone who might only be a 3-5 starter for one year compared to a prospect that might be able to produce for years.

I wouldn't. You'd just be hoping he turns it around so you can find yourself in the same position the team is in this year with Happ having a quality starter to sell at the deadline.

Yanks and Jays still seem to have work to do on Happ. Yanks have said no on Sheffield and also on Frazier. Jays have shown some interest in Drury. Brewers, others could still be in play. Yanks also talking to other teams (though doubtful mets would trade wheeler to NYY)

Why in the world do we want Drury? Take some prospects instead.

I would love Drury as the second piece.
