LGBJ29 Verified Member Posted April 3, 2018 Posted April 3, 2018 Yes, the producer may have instructed their staff no reports on JD's throwing after the game. Do you not find it odd that only TSN reported on it, and not Sportsnet? And I'm just going by what you said here, as I have no confirmation that Sportsnet did not report in this. Sportsnet has reported on this on several occasions dude..just give up https://www.sportsnet.ca/baseball/mlb/blue-jays-josh-donaldson-throws-field-win-yankees/ https://www.sportsnet.ca/baseball/mlb/uncertainty-gives-way-cautious-optimism-blue-jays-donaldson/ https://www.sportsnet.ca/baseball/mlb/blue-jays-josh-donaldson-return-third-base-tuesday-vs-white-sox/
Shart Verified Member Posted April 3, 2018 Posted April 3, 2018 Your dead on..... One big conspiracy to cover up Donaldson.... The whole Rogers empire has been working relentlessly to cover up..... Makes perfect sense. Not saying its a conspiracy, but they will want to limit negative news being reported on the team in order to not negatively impact ticket sales and ratings. If you don't believe that, then you are one naïve fellow.

First of all, it was Sammy, not deadpool, and he said TSN was the only one reporting Donaldson looked bad from 3rd base in a recent session, not that sportsnet hasn't covered Donaldson's arm at all. Reading comprehension my dude

Reading comprehension my dude Thanks...I got the names mixed up, so my apologies to deadpool. And BTW, when you start of a paragraph with "First of all", normally you will have a second point to make, otherwise there's no need for "First of all". Sentence structure my dude
Shart Verified Member Posted April 3, 2018 Posted April 3, 2018 Bottom line is I hope JD plays 3B tonight...I've got him in my fantasy pool and am a huge fan. But the conflicting observations concern me, especially with the Jays history of not being entirely forthcoming with injuries.

Honestly, at this point, I'd prefer Solarte @ 3B and Donaldson at DH than Donaldson at 3B and Morales at DH... Maybe Morales has a good season, and I hope he does, but right now I'd rather Solarte in the line-up.

Jays will not wait forever for him to hit..

Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted April 3, 2018 Posted April 3, 2018 HE started out s***** last year too. Lets hope he catches fire. I would consider moving Grichuk to the 1 hole. I suspect however they may give Travis more then 4 games to prove him self (SSS)

Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted April 3, 2018 Posted April 3, 2018 Why Grichuk? To me he is more of a power guy. More of a default to me. He has shown good patience so far you think about other options Pillar (started good but you kind of expect him back to his norms), Diaz is fine where he is, Martin No, Solarte not likely, the only other person would be Granderson.....
devo Verified Member Posted April 3, 2018 Posted April 3, 2018 I'd move Granderson to the 1 spot against RHP for the time being. Let Travis prove himself lower in the order.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted April 3, 2018 Posted April 3, 2018 I'd keep Travis in there until Mid April at least. If he's good enough to bat leadoff opening day then he's good enough to hit there 5 games later.

If we're assuming Pillar will return to his norms you gotta do the same for Grichuk, who has a career .297 OBP. Not ideal in the leadoff spot

Not ideal in the leadoff spot Yes and no. My thought is he is only 26 and just entering his prime and now has 2 full seasons under his belt and just entering his Prime years he could change his approach. Same thought i know a lot of people had with Pillar a couple years ago. Works for some others it doesn't. Maybe just me being hopeful on him.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 3, 2018 Posted April 3, 2018 Jays wasting no time benching Travis: It's likely a scheduled day off, he and Martin are on 3 game rest days. Don't be so obtuse, you don't get benched for performance 5 games in.
Shart Verified Member Posted April 3, 2018 Posted April 3, 2018 The plan for Travis this season is 2 days on, one day off. Nice to see JD back at 3rd. Will be interesting to see his throws to first tonight.

Jays will not wait forever for him to hit.. No way they pull the plug on Travis this early. This is the first real baseball he's played since last June, there is bound to be some rust to work off. Last year it wasn't until May that he just took off. They have to give him that opportunity.

The one who might lose PT is Morales, especially if JD's shoulder forces him to DH more. I doubt too many people would mind that trade off.

He said we win 3 in a row and you think I should change things up? Then he laughed at he person asking the question. Then he noted that tomorrow was Travis's scheduled day off and thus he would have to make a change at the leadoff spot. Then he laughed again.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 4, 2018 Posted April 4, 2018 Faaaack... play Solarte at SS... By Gregor Chisholm MLB.com @gregorMLB 12:18 AM ET TORONTO -- The suddenly red-hot Aledmys Diaz was removed from Tuesday night's 14-5 victory over the White Sox in the sixth inning because of back spasms and he is considered day to day. Diaz said following the game that he sustained the injury after hitting a two-run homer in the third inning. It was his fourth extra-base hit over his previous three games and marked the first time in his career he homered in back-to-back contests. The Blue Jays don't expect the back issue to become a serious injury and there is no initial expectation that he will be forced to the disabled list. Instead, the Blue Jays might look to start Gift Ngoepe at shortstop in Wednesday's series finale before the club enjoys on off-day on Thursday. "Just a little back spasm I had after I hit the homer and it just got worse and worse as the game kept going," Diaz said through an interpreter. "We'll see how it feels tomorrow." Before coming out of the game, Diaz had gone 3-for-3 with three RBIs and a pair of runs scored. Four of his five hits this season have gone for extra bases and his 0-for-9 skid at the start of the year quickly has become a distant memory. The Blue Jays can only hope the back issue becomes a distant memory, too, because with Troy Tulowitzki currently on the 60-day disabled list, Toronto can ill afford to lose more depth up the middle. Diaz did not seem too concerned about the injury after the game. He conceded the soreness increased as the game progressed, but he expects to be back in the lineup later this week. "It's part of the game," Diaz said. "I feel great mentally, so that's what's really important for me. Hopefully it's not too bad so I can keep rolling."

Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 4, 2018 Posted April 4, 2018 How did JDs arm look at third last night? I didn't get a chance to see the game. A s*** tonne better, it plays. Donaldson halts health concerns as Blue Jays keep rolling Shi Davidi @shidavidi April 3, 2018, 11:00 PM TORONTO – Three pitches into things Tuesday night Yoan Moncada sent a dribbler right along the third-base line that Josh Donaldson fielded and quickly relayed across the diamond, his solid throw to first coming just as umpire Jordan Baker ruled the ball foul. By design or not, the toss on a dead play gave the third baseman a chance to show that he had enough in the tank to handle whatever came his way in the field. And he did just that in a 14-5 pounding of the Chicago White Sox, recording three defensive assists while adding a two-run homer and a laser-beam RBI single off the left-field wall. “I knew it was pretty close and I figured, hey, this is a perfect opportunity for me to just let one go,” Donaldson said of the grounder in the first. “It ended up being foul so it didn’t really matter what happened, but I just wanted to get a gauge on it. It was nice.” Donaldson was back at third base for the first time since opening day, when what the team has described as a case of dead arm left him struggling to make throws across the diamond. A pair of issue-free throwing sessions Sunday and Monday suggested he had turned the corner and while he wasn’t slinging darts the way he usually does – he estimated his arm strength at 85-90 per cent – Tuesday’s performance offered something to build on. “Not every throw that we make is max effort, you actually do not want to be max effort (all the time),” said Donaldson, saying he learned from Troy Tulowitzki to be smarter in picking spots to really unleash across the diamond. “You want to have the ability to get there but most of the throws we’re making are not everything that we have. I feel very comfortable in changing arm angles and I do feel like if I need to put a little extra hair on one that I do have that ability. I feel good about where I’m at right now.” Donaldson’s return to the field defensively created more flexibility for manager John Gibbons, who put Kendrys Morales, who doesn’t really have a spot on the field, back at designated hitter. “I wasn’t worried, to be honest with you, about anything,” Gibbons said of Donaldson’s throwing. “He made the plays tonight. Put that behind you.”
