How the F do they get Cole without giving up Tucker, Whitley, Marte or Fisher?

 

I don't know, but given this return, I'd be going after Cutch now, if I'm the Jays. Might get him for a package centered around Guriel or Warmoth.

I wonder if the Jays try to trade for one of Houston’s excess starters. Buy low on McHugh.

 

We should 100% be going after McHugh. He's the odd man out and he'd be the perfect 5th starter.

Yep, about $5m this year in arb and I think another year of control in 2019. Makes a ton of sense as long as he’s healthy.

There's apparently some talk that Darvish's asking price may have dropped considerably, and could be now looking in the 5/90 range (seems doubtful, but who knows). If true, I'd hope we're in the mix.

He's not signing here. The Jays won't outbid teams for significant pieces.

Hopefully we trade for him. He’d look mighty fine in a Jays uni.

 

Trade for him and sign Lorenzo Cain and I could actually see us competing for a Wild card spot.

Solid get for the Nationals, Kendrick 2/7

 

Lower than projected, might be signs that some guys are starting to crumble. The top end free Agents they can hold out, but the medium and lower tier will start to get a little worried.

Wow that's a great deal for him. Would have loved for the Jays to grab him at that price to play LF and provide more IF depth. Maybe Nunez is still a possibility. I guess with Solarte and Diaz on board we may not need a guy like him as much though.

I would have much rather have signed Kendrick to something like that than gave up a decent prospect for Solarte. Kendrick is really nice.

I would call it more oddly loaded. Both Scherzer and Strasburg will make their max salaries next year (a Combined $75M) but then decrease starting in 2020. Adam Eaton is also set up as only $1.5M in 2020 after $8.4M in 2019.

The more and more I think about it. I think Washington is going to do everything possible to keep Bryce Harper and meet his ridiculous demands. I actually would not be surprised to see Harper stay in Washington. If he gets the money he wants he has no reason to leave. Washington is positioned well to dominate the NL East for at least another few seasons.

I can see him staying and maybe being traded in a few years

 

They could rotate those three in the LF/RF and DH spots and put a speedy plus defender in CF, it's a scary thought.
