Is there anyway to get Juan Soto and Carter Kieboom from the Nationals? Can we catch them in a "win now" mode before Harper leaves via free agency? Would that be the type of package we'd want for Osuna?

Even if they think they can get a discount on their annual balance sheet by offering an extra year or two - just a bad move. There are way more sensible options whether it be other 1B's or sticking with the one they have.

SD has reportedly offered Hosmer a 7 year deal. Yikes.

 

That's absurd. I actually really like him at 4 years. He's a good hitter who pounds the ball in to the ground. If you could get him on board with the flyball revolution he could become elite. But there's a chance that never happens and 7 years is just way too long for him.

Who are the Padres even bidding against? There's no market for Hosmer. If they really want him, he can be had a on 5 year deal.

 

Also this would mean Wil Myers back to the OF. That'll make for some fun highlights.

Themselves, like the M's... extra years just to get him to sign, where he likely doesn't want to.

That's got to be fake.. at $40M/year, that would put Boston so far over the tax, they'll get not just the 20% penalty on dollars over the luxury tax, but additional penalties, including losing their 1st rounder..

Many OF's still available. I think Shatkins is waiting out the market in comparison to freaking out early like last offseason. They went in panic mode and signed Morales to a 3 year deal near the beginning of the offseason, when they could have likely waited till January and get him on a 1-year deal especially when you consider what the market was for 1B/DH type of hitters last offseason.

 

So many OF's still available on the market and I'm sure you can nab some guys on a reasonable one-year deal. Jay Bruce, Carlos Gonzalez, Curtis Granderson, Melky Cabrera, Carlos Gomez for example.

Yes, still time... weird offseason. Most thought once Ohtani and Stanton dealt with, moves would happen... still slow

I traded Hos this off-season ... Glad to see him go to the Pads and not the Rockies like i thought might happen

 

He signed with the Pads? Last I read the Cardinals are really interested in him.
