HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted April 12, 2017 Posted April 12, 2017 Martin hitting before Pearce sigh
frizzer1 Verified Member Posted April 12, 2017 Posted April 12, 2017 Last night they had Martin back to back with Smoak...predictable results.. Tonight Martin batting before Pearce is another recipe for disaster... Unreal...
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted April 12, 2017 Posted April 12, 2017 Here's some help- let your 6 year old be a 6 year old. Emphasize hard work and hustle. Let him play multiple sports. No need to worry about results at that age. Yeah - I'm doing that....but there's no reason not to try and develop proper muscle memory, such that when he works hard, it actually helps him improve instead of doing the same thing wrong over and over while building poor habits.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted April 12, 2017 Posted April 12, 2017 It really pisses me off that Norris chose TB over TOR. We could really use a solid backup.

Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted April 12, 2017 Posted April 12, 2017 Can't really blame Norris. You just don't pass up on being a starter. The Jays offered more money according to reports. They were looking for every way Salty could not make this team. Salty should probably catch Estrada or Happ when Martin needs rest. While Martin catches the other 3 every start.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted April 12, 2017 Posted April 12, 2017 Martin is going to bat high in the order because of vetrin presentz. It would be nice to have more hitters that could bat ahead of him in Gibby's eyes but I guess we are not there yet.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted April 12, 2017 Posted April 12, 2017 It doesn't really matter IMO. Pearce isn't really hitting either and the difference between 6 and 7 is really small. I'd almost consider batting Martin leadoff until he gets his first hit just to get him off the schneid sooner. You know he's thinking about it every time he comes up.

It's a mistake even if it won't burn you 'that often.

Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted April 13, 2017 Posted April 13, 2017 Getting really tired of Martin being blamed for these losses. Donaldson and Morales are the only 2 guys hitting. Tulo has had some big hits otherwise hes been bad as well.

It's a mistake even if it won't burn you 'that often. Pearce has 4 singles and one of them didn't make it half way down the 3rd baseline. Martin actually has a higher on base percentage. They both suck right now, it doesn't matter who is in front of who. That decision hasn't cost us a single game because they have both sucked balls. I don't know why people feel the need to post about this.
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted April 13, 2017 Posted April 13, 2017 We are the worst team in MLB after tonight. Only team with still only 1 win. Gotta turn it around against the Os
wk680 Verified Member Posted April 13, 2017 Posted April 13, 2017 should we tank for Seth Beer Looks like he is a LH hitting 1Bman and Jays already have a pretty good one at AAA. Getting really tired of Martin being blamed for these losses. Donaldson and Morales are the only 2 guys hitting. Tulo has had some big hits otherwise hes been bad as well. You're right - they are collectively to blame for the pathetic attempts at producing any offense. Seems only Morales and Donaldson have been consistently having good at bats. Now that Martin finally got a hit, hopefully he will get it going a bit. We are the worst team in MLB after tonight. Only team with still only 1 win. Gotta turn it around against the Os The way this team has been going, if they win 3 of the remaining 7 in this home stand against Os' and Red Sox, that will be a great achievement. I will be optimistic and hope they take 4 of those

Governator Community Moderator Posted April 13, 2017 Posted April 13, 2017 You know you're providing no protection when they'd rather walk the bases loaded to face you in the 4th inning.

It was so obvious they were just gonna pitch around Tulo and let him walk to face Martin instead. That's how damn bad he's been.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted April 13, 2017 Posted April 13, 2017 Smoak have an excuse to no been DFA.. Nobody here is hitting the baseball.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted April 13, 2017 Posted April 13, 2017 I didn't watch, was Thames booed?
Laika Community Moderator Posted April 13, 2017 Posted April 13, 2017 No attendance was like, 20,000 the only noise the crowd made all night was when Martin got his first hit lmao
LGBJ29 Verified Member Posted April 13, 2017 Posted April 13, 2017 I cant imagine how bad the attendance is gonna be tonight with the leafs playing Game 1.

That is probably the lowest it has been in the past year or so? I can't recall any game last year having that bad attendance, especially April games. edit: NVM I'm misremembering, http://www.crowdhitter.com/blue-jays-home-attendance-stats/ Amazing how good our attendance was starting in late May.

It was shockingly low for the 2nd home game but I guess it was probably higher than that.

Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted April 13, 2017 Posted April 13, 2017 29K, not too bad only 17K less than the 2nd home game last year... I got 4 free tickets to the Red Sox game next Wednesday. I may pass and save the trip / long night.

BlueJayWay Verified Member Posted April 13, 2017 Posted April 13, 2017 And hanging over all this is the Josh Donaldson factor. Donaldson remains an elite player, one of the very best performers in baseball, but he’s a free agent after 2018. If the team sells this summer, getting him to sign a long-term extension is probably out the window, as he’s unlikely going to want to end his career on a team that may need to shift towards a rebuild as soon as next year. And if you don’t think you can keep Donaldson past next year, then perhaps they shouldn’t keep him past July. http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/the-blue-jays-upcoming-quandary/
