He was like a late round draft pick for me in the DDL, maybe even in the first June draft we had if I recall. Remember drafting him when he was with the Tigers. It's fun watching someone develop & mature after taking a flier on them in one of the late rounds of a draft. Drafted Daniel Hudson back in 2009 in another league like with a 5th round pick and it was fun watching him over his first two years. Ray definitely doesn't get that much love in the baseball world in comparison to other arms.
That's awesome! I got him via trade in August of 2015 (right before the breakout), along with Willy Adames, for Brandon Crawford.

That trade was panned by everybody.

It's pretty crazy these days how a single instagram post from an ex has the potential to destroy your entire image/life.

This is the full post:

"kristenmeck

Four years ago I went back to school to get my degree, shortly after, I moved across the country for love. Three years ago I was engaged. Two years ago I was planning a wedding. And one year ago I left the person I thought I was going to marry. I had beautiful moments with a man and I fell in love with a sense of humor and authentic soul that I wanted to spend my life with. I also was physically and emotionally abused by this beautiful man. He gave me a lifestyle most people only dreamed of, but it came at a price. I am forever thankful for the joy, love and laughter he shared with me. I am also forever grateful for the darkness I experienced. Because of that, today is more full of light than I would have ever expected. When I left I had $300 to my name, I had no access to money, I had no access to cars and was only given the courtesy to remove my items from our home. When I left, he and his family made sure I had nothing. But, that is far from true. I had my life, I had my family, I had my friends and I had the fight and heart that has been in me since I was a little girl. With the help of a stranger I met in an airport I was given the strength to get on my feet and fight to rebuild my life. I sold what "materialistic" items I was able to take with me in order to fly to San Diego and live until I could find a job. I found a job, I found a place to live and I found myself. As I sit here, shaking, scared to share a small glimpse of the last year of my life I can't help but let tears fall down my cheeks. I just finished my last day of my school. I am officially a college graduate, living in my dream city, working for a great company, teaching yoga and more importantly I am free of anxiety and surrounded by the love, support, grace and kindness of my friends and family and strangers and the world.

Thank you to everybody who listened to me vent. Thank you to those who held me as I cried for hours. Thank you for those that didn't judge my nightmares. Thank you to those who supported my dreams. Thank you to those who encouraged me when I could finally laugh again. Thank you to those who gave advice. Thank you to those who didn't speak and were just there."

I think it's absurd that MLB would conduct anything more than a preliminary inquiry based on a passing line in some attention-seeking instagram post.

Lol and then the ridiculous picture to go along with that attention-seeking post. MLB is doing Norris no favors by taking that post seriously.

I don't see anything wrong with her picture...

If anything had actually happened, she certainly would have went to law enforcement and taken him for a bunch of money.

Women throw around these claims far too often because the consequences are generally positive for them, whether it is true or not. Unfortunately, the consequences can be devastating for someone like Norris due to MLB's continued witch hunt.

I remember getting banned here for defending the 'innocent before proven guilty' line on Jose Reyes.

Meanwhile the above four posts..

Got any stats to back this up? She might be a liar, she might not, but it's f***ed up that you jump to victim-denying immediately. You seem to have a very negative opinion of women and the dialogue you're engaging in actively keeps victimized women from coming forward.

Are you serious? The circumstances are completely different. Reyes situation was reported to police immediately and he was arrested the same night, where the wife was taken to a medical centre and had visual injuries to multiple parts on her body.

This Norris situation came out a year after the alleged assault where no report was filed just some vague claim in attention seeking semi-nude instagram post.

If you wanna treat every situation the same thats your choice but it's easy to see the difference here.

And you're accusing me of jumping to conclusions? Wow

The ball was hooking towards left field before it hit this supposed object. I don't see the 'left turn' that they mention on the broadcast, as the ball follows a consistent trajectory. Kiermaier simply fooled the umps by misplaying it so badly.

It was hit by a lefty batter, so must have had some strange backspin from being sliced off the bat. Seemed to act like a batted ball version of a slider with some late break after it hit the top of it's flight path.

I agree. It was indeed a very strange flight path.

I mean, I loathe to agree with Grant on anything, but fake rape claims are fairly common. Particularly for women involved with athletes or celebrities, and there are absolutely no legal ramifications for them doing so. Then to get on your little virtuous soapbox and speak for women as if they are little, delicate flowers who get discouraged by pretty much anything is laughable.

Skepticism. Try it sometime.

Oh please. Women should be going to police with these claims, not posting them next to seductive pictures on instagram

MLB has to investigate once it's brought to their attention though, and unfortunate or not they have to be transparent about doing so.

and 80% go unreported.

How do you know if they don't get reported?

Also, I'm trying to figure out why Brock Turner is such a big deal if rape is so common in schools?

Can you not counter sue someone if its proven they falsely accused you of something? I completely agree there needs to be serious consequences for those spreading false claims of this kind.

You'd have to prove that the accuser willfully lied about the charge, which is nearly impossible to do. I think it's happened a few times in cases where the victim of the false charge has a solid alibi but I think most people just want to be done with the whole thing and out of court.
