  1. I agree. Ball's been hit hard at people but there are also cases where he made his pitches

  3. What are those? Way back when before he got some award from Baseball Canada (HOF or something like that), we would go out for a beer near the Big A whenever he was in town. I didn't recall him being as crusty as he got in recent years. I don't think the award got to his head or anything like that but he's definitely not the same guy as 5-7 years ago
  4. one of the concession worker in center field seats is helping himself/herself to a can of refreshment .... nice
  5. that's a pretty fair assessment. i watched most of the game on mute as i was working. it seemed like he was getting hit hard early on but it was either right at someone or good D (Diaz, Smoak comes to mind). it's funny to hear that the 'stros are not "normal" but it's so true
  6. borucki has settled in nicely

  12. ^ says it all for me Being raised in TO and having spent over 20yrs in the US, I'm not a die-hard Canadian whatever. But I don't care where you are from, what ethnicity, etc, you should never forget that where you are at today and your success today had contributions from others; in Votto's cases, his coaches/mentors, etc.
  13. the pitch to end the game was 99.3mph... fastest of the season ... unreal
  14. Don't know why but the SN stream on MLB.TV has no Buck or Tabby; just the ballpark sounds ... it's a beautiful thing
  15. I learned so much as a kid listening to Kubek...
  16. Biagini has slimmed down quite a bit
  17. maybe it's just me but I was confused with both tweets. Here's the context
  18. Even though they changed the name from Anaheim to Los Angeles, the fanbase for the Angels are still pretty much in Orange County - about 40 mi south of downtown LA. When you think of "LA fans", it's actually the Dodgers as their fan base is what could be thought of as the metropolitan LA area. The majority of those that live in Orange Co probably wouldn't consider themselves to be "Angelenos". Going to a Dodgers game vs an Angels are 2 completely different experience. If I'm going with someone who has kids and are not die hard Dodgers fans, I typically take them to an Angels game. It's much more of a family atmosphere not to mention cheap beer. Moreno may be an idiot when it comes to meddling in baseball ops but one of the first thing he did when he took over the team was to lower beer prices. For that, I'll never forget it. It's like what Blank did with the new stadium in Atlanta but Moreno was the first to do it. Dodgers game are enjoyable too mind you but it's more "urban", edgier if that makes any sense
  19. I also see Rogers managing of the team as a commercial enterprise as Shaitkins greatest obstacle. I recall reading somewhere that Jays are the only team that's owned by a corporation. Every time I'm tempted to extrapolate Cleveland's success to the Jays, I have to remind myself that the ownership is fundamentally different; and not as simplistic as size of budget/small market vs big market, etc. This whole premise of "contending in 2018" sounds more like corporate-speak than what an experience baseball mind/FO would do ... at least to me anyways
