Dickey's anus is quivering at hearing about all this rape talk

He has no worries.....not with the way he craps his pants pitching, no ethical butt rapist would come close to that messy ass!

Thread title edit please (i.e. the names of the prospects) so everyone can see the awesomeness of this deal.

Projected starters for next season

Sanchez

Estrada

Happ

Liriano

Stroman

Kick rocks RA. f*** ya. Would be an amazing staff if Liriano and Stroman bounce back

Hopefully somebody legit will make the GDT tonight.

TODD, if you're reading this, please make the GDT early tonight before we get raped by Jonn or JFL19.

So in summary, here's what we exchanged at the 2016 deadline.

-Upton

-Benoit

-Bolsinger

-Feldman

-Liriano

-Two pretty much consensus 2016 Pre-Season Top 100 prospects in McGuire and Ramirez.

for:

-Taking on 5 mil of Upton's contract and all of Liriano's.

-Two RP's pitching like s*** and were FA at the end of the year.

-Hutch

-Some lottery ticket prospects

That's oversimplified but I really like this trade deadline for the Jays. Seems like our major league team got better and so did our farm system.

Score one for Robert Murray!

Did little Devan Fink get any, King?

No there's a reason Robert Murray has moved onto big things but Devan Fink is clinging to the blog they started with a few years back.

Nice summary and agreed on Shatkins having seemingly pulled several rabbits out of something to make us better all round.

Thanks. I think my descriptions of what we gave up could probably apply to what we got as well though haha. Upton being the worst player in baseball two years in a row before and injury riddled '15 and this year, Benoit and Bolsinger suck, Feldman isn't very good, etc.

But I think overall we improved the big league team and the farm and didn't give up a whole lot other than eating some salary to do it.

We basically improved depth significantly at the major league level and bolstered the farm without having to give up any of our top prospects or consequential major leaguers and getting rid of a few problems that didn't work out here (Chavez and Storen). That's a win of a deadline.

Pompey is not considered a prospect anymore? Also, Tellez ahead of Vladdy Jr.

The 1B who can't run, throw or catch the ball? No way.

I really like the Reese McGuire and Harold Ramirez pick ups (8th and 9th ranked prospects on the Pirates); having an up and coming catcher in the farm system has been a real area of need for us with all the uncertainty surrounding Pentecost.

I thought they were both top 5 in their system?

Couldn't have said it better myself

Yes you're right according to Fangraphs: I was using the more dated MLB prospect organizational rankings.

In three or four years you can say the same about Vladdy.

I see what's going on....you are confusing Vlad Jr....for Prince Fielder. Time to get your eyes checked:cool:

This is incredible.

They added payroll in order to get two legit prospects... and arguably improved the roster in the process.

Liriano’s ERA w/ Russell Martin Catching: 2.92

Liriano’s ERA w/ All Other Catchers: 4.28

Just sayin'

Good they have some chemistry already

Tellez reminds me a lot of David Ortiz athletically. Sew a super athletic upper body with good rotational mechanics onto a stiff, unathletic pair of legs, and you get Ortiz and Tellez. They may even have comparable raw power, the difference being Ortiz’ ability to utilize that power effectively with a better swing path for putting the ball in the air.

The ball jumps off Tellez’ bat, but he’s very choppy getting to contact, limiting his power mostly to pitches up in the zone, where his plane is forced to level out more. What may save him from being a slugger who doesn’t slug enough is his raw hitting ability: Tellez has shown better contact rates than you’d expect and, partially as a result, the potential for a plus hit tool. Also, though his speed is extremely limited, he’s a smart base-runner who won’t kill you with poor decisions when he gets on.

Though he’s not a sure thing with the bat yet, I could very easily see him in the 50+ group without having to squint. I felt more comfortable with him here until he can make some swing adjustments. His bat will get him some kind of opportunity either way.
