Olerud363 Old-Timey Member Posted October 5, 2016 Posted October 5, 2016 To be fair, I think making people drink from light plastic cups is a fair compromise. Absolutely, that was horrible... I think banning all cans for the rest of post season is absolutely fair.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted October 5, 2016 Posted October 5, 2016 Absolutely, that was horrible... I think banning all cans for the rest of post season is absolutely fair. Why only the postseason? Plenty of venues don't give you a can.
Governator Community Moderator Posted October 5, 2016 Posted October 5, 2016 Why only the postseason? Plenty of venues don't give you a can. They don't even give you a cap for your water bottle when spilling it is worth like a quarter a drop, why they give you beer cans is beyond me.
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted October 5, 2016 Posted October 5, 2016 To be fair, I think making people drink from light plastic cups is a fair compromise. Ya i think that should be a rule i know in Minny they give you cans as well and its just as easy to throw a cup. Hard to say.

Should also ban selling hot dogs since those can be thrown at players too. Goddammit king, now I want someone to throw a hotdog at Odor!
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted October 5, 2016 Posted October 5, 2016 To be fair, I think making people drink from light plastic cups is a fair compromise. They do that in the 500 level and it's been fine they could implement it stadium wide except for ground level

flafson Verified Member Posted October 5, 2016 Posted October 5, 2016 What I find interesting is that most of them wanted Ubaldo to start instead of Tillman but when Ubaldo loses the game, he was the wrong choice. The only argument I see there is that he was never good at coming out of the bullpen where he had some success starting games. But in all honesty, only thing Buck could have done differently in my opinion was to take Ubaldo out of the game after Donaldson hit that single and had runners on the corners with 1 out. Could Britton have saved the game there? Maybe, who knows.

Over the weekend in Boston there were a few Canadians causing trouble that were kicked out of Fenway. Drunk as hell, throwing things, fighting. And it took security guards about 10 minutes to get them out. It's really sad and gives the good guys a bad name. I talked to a Boston security guard and he was really upset, and said it gave us all a bad name. On the good side there were 90% awesome Canadians. One guy was buying everybody hot dog and ice cream.

Absolutely zero people would have wanted Ubaldo over Britton in the circumstances that took place last night. The initial argument was never that Ubaldo was the best arm on the Orioles' squad.

To be, I see the argument for bringing in a starter to give you innings because you don't know how long it's going to go, but at the same time, you also don't know what you're going to get from Ubaldo so he should have had a very tight leash. To me the issue wasn't about the fact he was in the game, it was the fact he didn't take him out the first sign of trouble.
SweetSmellingChacin Verified Member Posted October 5, 2016 Posted October 5, 2016 Even if you're trying to save Britton for when you have a lead, after Ubaldo serves up not 1 but 2 meatballs to Travis/Donaldson, you don't think to yourself, maybe I should put in the best reliever in baseball when there's a guy 90 feet away from winning the game with only 1 out.

Thats the thing on a huge level like last night it just makes us look terrible as i am sure that drunk probably got a free ticket and went because it was the big thing to do in toronto. Likely first game he has been to all year. However we go down every year to Minnesota and they love it when we come down they say they rarely have any incidents and we are so much fun lol.

Well when you have literally 4+ million showing up to the ballpark, and at least a million more visiting ballparks in America... you're looking at 5 million independent people. And I don't care what country we the 5 million fans are from, that's 5 million possible incidents (i know its not 5 million unique people). I'm surprised that it's that low of a number of people causing problems, we should be happy.

The idea of having Ubaldo start is much more defensible than the idea of using him in extras last night. The main benefit Ubaldo brings to the table (in theory, and in practice during the latter parts of the season) is his ability to pitch multiple innings. If he starts (like anyone starting in a do-or-die game), he gets put on a short leash and the amount of time he's in the game is based on how he's doing. If he's September-Ubaldo, he maybe gives you 5 or 6 innings, similar to what Tillman provided last night. If he's awful, then you yank him quick, and any hole he's dug for you, you have the bulk of the game to try and claw your way back. In extras, there's nothing you can do if Early-Season-Ubaldo shows up. If he gives up a run, the O's have no opportunity to get those runs back. As such, I think it only makes sense to go to him if the game drags on and you need to get innings from someone. There's just no way, particularly given the volatility of his season, that Ubaldo should even come close to entering that game with Britton available. Edited October 5, 2016 by CHRIS

I think one of the only smart things i have heard come out of Tablers mouth was the fact that Ubaldo did not look ready to come into the game. He obviously would need more time to warm up because he has been a starter most of the year. I remember Liriano warming up in the 8th inning i believe. Starters take longer to get ready and Jimenez gave the Jays good BP.

fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted October 5, 2016 Posted October 5, 2016 I was sitting right by the bullpen Liriano was up stretching before Osuna started throwing. Liriano according to Wilner was tossing/stretching inbetween innings for 3 half-innings before Osuna came in. And when Osuna came in he started hurling in the pen. So he literally was moving and warming his arm slowly for 3 half innings then warming up fully for an inning and a third before Osuna got injured and Liriano got as much time as needed. This was super great. Lets not forget that he got a side session in, in Boston when Osuna was pitching the 9th

Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted October 5, 2016 Posted October 5, 2016 Beer cans should be banned at the stadium. They should be served in cups no matter what. I don't care if it takes more time its safer.
STLJaysFan Verified Member Posted October 5, 2016 Posted October 5, 2016 If I remember correctly, I think Busch Stadium gives out aluminum bottles as well as pouring draft beer into plastic cups.
