crazy47larry Verified Member Posted May 26, 2016 Posted May 26, 2016 Sounds like Tulo is trying so hard with extra BP and practice that it's wearing on his body. sounds like they are making a mountain out of a molehill to me. Tulo's work ethic has always been second to none. Its a part of who he is. Now if he is working on the WRONG THINGS then that is different, but telling a player not to work as hard seems so dumb to me.

As you get older though, your body doesn't rebound like it once did and injuries last longer. You need rest. He likely isn't getting much rest.

I think the idea is to cut back a bit on all the extra work. You're not telling him not to work hard - just to be smart about it. It's like how Jose and older players get few AB's in spring training and such. Long season, old - need to be smart. Don't overdue it.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted May 26, 2016 Posted May 26, 2016 Rank these players in the order of their trade value Estrada Happ Dickey Bautista EE Smoak Donaldson Not all of these are expiring but if we are going to rebuild they probably won't be part of our next playoff team Donaldson Bautista Edwin Estrada Happ Dickey Smoak
Muck Bartinez Verified Member Posted May 26, 2016 Posted May 26, 2016 Donaldson Bautista Edwin Estrada Happ Dickey Smoak I'd be tempted to put Estrada above Eddy at this point right now. Every team could use a SP, but not everyone has room for a DH/1B. Plus the extra year of control on Estrada is definitely worth something.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted May 26, 2016 Posted May 26, 2016 Tulo sitting again tonight but I think we can be pretty optimistic that it won't keep him out much longer.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted May 26, 2016 Posted May 26, 2016 We'll see if he gets a PH opportunity.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted May 26, 2016 Posted May 26, 2016 Gibbons hasn't taken care of Stroman or Sanchez's innings at all. I guess he's going by pitch count rather than innings. It will be interesting to see how the org views the difference (pitch counts vs. innings). SInce they are both so GB dependent, they can get deeper into games on lower pitch counts, but that brings the IP totals up.

Cyborg Verified Member Posted May 27, 2016 Posted May 27, 2016 Someone needs to confront Dan Szymborski on Twitter about Gavin Floyd's egregious RoS projection. 5.19 ERA and 5.21 FIP?!?! Steamer has a 3.69 ERA and 3.86 FIP which seems slightly high but does have 5 starts mixed in. He currently has a 3.53 xFIP and a 2.64 SIERA with the 7th best SwStr% in baseball.

It was also him (or Scott Baker?) that got a 2+ HR/9 projection once upon a time. ZiPS is so s***.
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted May 27, 2016 Posted May 27, 2016 Just watched the top of the 9th from last night on Jays in 30. Some excellent approaches from Smoak, Pillar and Travis to RF against Chapman. They all looked like they shortened up a bit on their swings. Travis hit the 102 MPH 6th pitch of the AB (down and in) on a line to RF. Pretty impressive for a guy who saw nothing close to that in his rehab.
BigBounceyBlueBalls Old-Timey Member Posted May 27, 2016 Posted May 27, 2016 Yup with Travis back, Tulo and Martin finally showing signs of life and a heartbeat. We may be all right! The Kids are Alright!!! Now Dfa the Storen bum, please!!!

People probably get stomped over each other to get there.

Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted May 27, 2016 Posted May 27, 2016 Has anyone taken their kids down to run the field on Jr. Jays Saturday? I assume it's a F'ing gongshow ridiculous lineups and ultimately is a waste of time...but I thought I'd ask. I'm taking my son to his first ever game tomorrow (thanks burlingtonbandit) and I'm wondering if it's worth the effort....and if it is, does anyone have any tips to maintain your sanity (besides copious amounts of alcohol). Thanks guys.....I think this is going to be one of those parenting moments you never forget.

It does take a bit to get going and it may be worthwhile to line up early (we've always waited until the game ends and the lineup is pretty long at that time). Once things get moving though, the lineup moves pretty quickly. It's pretty neat to see them experience being on the field. Enjoy!

My son's 5 and can run the bases on his own, but might be a tad shy about being alone in a massive lineup and such.

You stay with them until they take off running, it's just the patience waiting up the ramps to get on the field. Personally I enjoy watching the end of a game instead of standing on a ramp for an hour.

Sounds like by that time, we should expect to stand in line for about an hour to get onto the field. We're a good 2 hours from home and it will be a long day for us, so it sounds like this isn't going to happen.
