Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted April 20, 2016 Posted April 20, 2016 I remember going over to the Mets board during the Dickey rumours and everyone from the Blue Jays board was over there scoffing at the reports that both d'Arnaud and Syndergaard were in play. I shocked when both were included and thought it was obviously a bad trade. But I wasn't too angry about it because I thought the team was going to be pretty good. Yup. I was just telling my dad about this during game tonight. I remember the initial reports were that it could be something like Gose+Arencibia for Dickey, then I think it turned into D'arnaud+, then it came out as d'arnaud+Synd and we were all shocked and in disbelief.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted April 20, 2016 Posted April 20, 2016 It feels so good to have a great closer come in and shut the door. Nothing like it.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted April 20, 2016 Posted April 20, 2016 barry davis - "you're a bad player [smoak] but you have all these walks, what do you think?" lmao.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted April 20, 2016 Posted April 20, 2016 Smoak vs all RHP please. Yeah I'm thinking a strict platoon is in order at 1st.
Belliss101 Old-Timey Member Posted April 20, 2016 Posted April 20, 2016 As I listen to Baseball Central, I'm reminded of how much of a tool Kevin Barker is. My goodness my ears are sore.

Governator Community Moderator Posted April 20, 2016 Posted April 20, 2016 Justin Smoak 54.5% K 31.8% BB Leads team in OBP. It's kind of fascinating really.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted April 20, 2016 Posted April 20, 2016 I was around to see most of those walks, and those pitches weren't even close. But Smoak is usually the guy to chase s*** pitches, so it really has been confusing watching him.

Governator Community Moderator Posted April 20, 2016 Posted April 20, 2016 1.000 Babip, amirite? Yea good for all of his 2 hits.
Sorrow Verified Member Posted April 20, 2016 Posted April 20, 2016 I think a lot of Smoak's strikeouts are a timing issue. We know that he's a mid to high 20% K-rate guy but when you don't get consistent playing time you can't get your timing down to get your swing started appropriately. Will be interesting to see if Gibby forces the platoon now.
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted April 20, 2016 Posted April 20, 2016 Jose has a nearly 25% strikeout rate. A guy who has kept his strikeout rate under 18% for 6 years
vdubmvp Old-Timey Member Posted April 20, 2016 Posted April 20, 2016 f*** off Collabello Yeah, I'm really not understanding why they can't at least try out a strict platoon right now.

Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted April 20, 2016 Posted April 20, 2016 This could be the Colabello last chance. Buffalo is waiting for him
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted April 20, 2016 Posted April 20, 2016 This could be the Colabello last chance. Buffalo is waiting for him No Gibby loves him because he had big hits last year. f*** off about this year,
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted April 20, 2016 Posted April 20, 2016 No Gibby loves him because he had big hits last year. f*** off about this year, Jesus Montero is burning AAA baseball. Shatkins isnt stupid like Alex.
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted April 20, 2016 Posted April 20, 2016 Jesus Montero is burning AAA baseball. Shatkins isnt stupid like Alex. I guarantee you they will not step on gibbys toes about how to manage the roster. However they should step on his neck
intentional wok Old-Timey Member Posted April 20, 2016 Posted April 20, 2016 I guarantee you they will not step on gibbys toes about how to manage the roster. However they should step on his neck I can totally see them letting Gibby hang himself to make the axe PR-friendly. In fairness to Gibby, clubhouse morale would absolutely get in the way of any moves he might want to make. On the other hand, bizarre platoon methodology suggests he's not even appreciating certain obvious issues.

However they should step on his neck I guarantee that you are incorrect with regards to Gibby managing the 25 man roster. Shapiro/Atkins is too hands on
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted April 20, 2016 Posted April 20, 2016 Gibbons also raised the possibility of using 6th starter at some point in not-so-distant future.Believes it will ease SP workload. #BlueJays
