Shelby Miller is Desert-Bound (Because Dave Stewart Lost His Mind)

Given Stewart is an idiot, what do you think Aaron Sanchez could land us?

That's an impossible question to answer given that they have like 8 valid starters and we have no idea if Stewart even likes Sanchez.

Should of made Greinke the GM in his contract too. He would never of made this stupid of a trade.

You are a bad culprit of "would of" I've noticed lol.

Don't mean to be a grammar Nazi but I've seen you make this mistake dozens of times.

Dave Cameron actually kind of nails it:

Might even be worse though

Marlins beat guy

Hearing that #Marlins had deal working with D-Backs: Jose Fernandez for Corbin, Swanson and 3 others -- until Zona landed Shelby Miller.

Who would have traded Stroman for Inciarte, Swanson, and Blair?

Of course.

I was actually thinking the same thing a few minutes ago.

Without question.

Me too. I think Stroman is more valuable than Miller too. Such a weird and stupid trade.

Yeah, I wouldn't consider trading Stroman for Miller, but I wouldn't hesitate to trade him for the package Miller returned. This trade is incredibly lopsided.

So basically the Braves managed to trade the last year of Heyward for one year of Miller, Inciarte, Swanson, and Blair. Solid.

They wanted Pollock. I say they lucked into this trade more than anything.

That's why I said 'managed' lol, like you said this is basically AZ's doing, Braves wanted Pollock from the beginning

Another question I have is why did they even draft Dansby Swanson in the first place if they place such little value on him?

Maybe Miller is a good number 2 starter for 3 years and ~20 mil or whatever. I won't discount that possibility. However, surely a highly thought of number 1 pick is worth somewhere in that ballpark or even more.

I think they probably just don't have a good understanding of what his value is.

Moncada got $63M on the open market and he was basically a talent equivalent for a #1 draft pick. That should say a lot.

Their valuations are all messed up. Maybe they view Shelby as a future ace or something? It's stupid enough that they wanted to deal the Swanson package over Pollock (rumours pointed to a straight swap of Miller and Pollock)

Why do you think I didn't notice that he added two fastball variants? It had no noticeable affect on his xFIP or SIERA and his xFIP- was actually worse than average. So now you tell me how he "improved".

and that right there is exactly my point, you refer to improvement as a broad statistic such as xFIP, or SIERA, increasing as the only way to measure it. You my friend are "close minded", if the kid adds 2 new pitches and one of them in his first year using it is 3rd best in the MLB among starters, that is the very definition of improvement. If you can't understand this then I give up.

I like Miller, I think he could become a good #2 pitcher... obviously the Arrieta comparison is wishful thinking. That being said this is clearly a terrible trade for the DBacks, not defending that one.

So he didn't improve, he just changed. ok
