Laika Community Moderator Posted December 5, 2015 Posted December 5, 2015 Steamer projection for the top 12 (Tiny Tim, Alvarez and Hoffman are all 0.0) of these pitchers (counting Synder) is 10.4. Jays current entire staff 12.6. shut up
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted December 5, 2015 Posted December 5, 2015 Uhh.. Syndergaard = Cy Contender Stroman = 1/2 Osuna = Closer Sanchez = Setup man DeSclafani = midrotation starter Boyd/Norris = jury still out Seems reasonable to me. He was referring to the system at the start of 2015. Stroman/Norris/Sanchez/Castro/Osuna/Hoffman... s***, now that I'm typing all of these names i'm kind of mad that we no longer have half of them. The playoffs WERE pretty sweet though.

closetjaysfan Verified Member Posted December 5, 2015 Posted December 5, 2015 Doesn't it depend on where your official residence is for the majority of the year? I don't know about Grienke but most of these guys live in Florida or Arizona in which case it would make no difference. I've always gotten the impression that taxes are something sports writers care more about than the players and agents, its almost never a deciding factor or even something they think about that much. I read an article last night that suggested that the tax savings would be ~20 million over the 6 years.

I read an article a few months ago that looked at that aspect for NHL players. It said about third of the players didn't want to sign with Canadian teams because of the taxes. I'm sure it's same with baseball players too.

There are certain States where there is a definite income tax saving advantage. There are also different tax rates in each province. It most definitely is not like it used to be though. Arizona is notably one of the lowest, along with Florida, I believe.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted December 5, 2015 Posted December 5, 2015 All I can picture is Grienke bustin' a move to this song in his living room with a pair of track pants off...acting all gangsta https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fNTBb1u6UGg

burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted December 5, 2015 Posted December 5, 2015 Florida has no income tax. There's still Federal income tax. Its not like these guys don't get taxed at all lol.
