I used to have a teacher in Jr. High who's last name was Shapiro and everyone always called him Sha-pee-row.. Not sure if that was the actual correct way of saying it but He never corrected his students on that matter so... This Sha-pie-row thing is really odd to me, lol.

Same. My Accounting Cases professor, this past summer, is name Joel Shapiro and it's pronounced Sha-peer-oh. This entire Sha-pie-roh thing is odd.
