I agree with you that the prior GMs were not playing with a full deck, but those were the times. JPR was also in during the Yankees beasting. AA still needed to capitalize with his opportunities to get the team in the playoffs. And for the most part he pulled it off.

You are right payroll is different. But he still had to get the players. He still needed to develop the farm so he could get those players.

Im not a casual fan, I would not mind if AA was given the keys to the castle. I have been lurking in this forum since it was born. Was even lurking the old one. Seems like there is a majority of posters here who thinks they are better "fans" than the avg Joe because they know fancy smanshy moneyball supersaber numbers. I say let as many bandwagon jumpers with all their opinions jump for the ride. Without these casual fans taking interest we could end up like the Expos.
