I guess having Blue Jays type players lasted 5 minutes. Bring on the knuckleheads!

He keeps saying its not the right fit.

It was the right fit until Shapiro got hired is it not?

You should be a f***ing detective.

AA asked about his best move in French, first (and only) thing he mentions is the new uniforms, lol.

LOL

That's probably the best move he's made actually, imagine Donaldson in the black alternate jersey... yuck

AA on if he wanted to be President/CEO: "I'm a baseball guy. I don't have interest in business operations, stadium operations."

Random casual fan: Stadium operations? I knew it was Shapiro who wanted the roof closed. Damn American hates Canada weather. #FireShapiro #BringBackAA

I don't know what AA wants us to conclude from this other than his ego was too big.

He wanted autonomy and it wasn't on offer - He worked for the last 6 years making every baseball decision and wanted it to continue.

Ego or not - Better for him to leave now than sign a contract and have conflict and bitterness going forward.

He's handing it in a respectful manner.

I hope Shapiro is successful - what's the saying the king is dead ..... long live the king!

It's hard to wrap my head around how this could be a good career move for AA... still trying to see the angle here.

Pretty sure because he doesn't want to be the face of GM while Shapiro forces him to make moves (or reject moves) he doesn't agree with. Leave on a high note so he doesn't get held back?

He could be unemployed for a decent amount of time if he's seeking a GM position. i doubt teams are going to fire their GMs to hire AA

Is a free agent. Leaves on a high note without having to clean up the impending mess he created for post 2016. Can go somewhere else down the road and get full control of baseball ops.

It's a smart play by him.

I feel like he should have orchestrated his departure better ynless he wanted Rogers to look bad. This is very gauche.

Probably confident he can get something else and sees himself in a high position where he can control what he does as GM, it may backfire though if he can't find any teams willing to give him full reins

Other thing is he could see the Jays as a team that will be good for 1-2 more years and then have a rough rebuild, and may want to go to a team in a better position. It's funny because doing what he's doing (leaving a team after selling the farm) could be a good way to have a very successful career - just build up a team by trading away their prospects, leave before they get bad and repeat

I wonder how this comes up to AA though? Like does Shapiro say, "So from here on on out, I'm making the moves." Be curious to how it all started and what it expanded to before AA said f*** this I'm out.

Well given they were negotiating a contract, if it was important to both sides it would come up very quickly
