RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 Doug Fister is a FA. Probably an 80% chance he ends up a bluejay considering how many times AA has tried to acquire him
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 Why the hell are we talking about trading Tulo to Cleveland? He's not getting traded and if he were it would be a big market team. Not sure, especially considering HE HAS A FULL NO-TRADE CLAUSE.
Olerud363 Old-Timey Member Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 Not sure, especially considering HE HAS A FULL NO-TRADE CLAUSE. Between Donaldson, Tulo, Bautista and EE we have a combined 10 years of control over big scary right handed slugger bat. Why would we trade 5 of them?? Why would we trade the one who plays short stop?? This is insanity I am Tulo, I am the short stop, I can hit .278 with 29 homers and 93 rbis I am Goins, I am the short stop, I can hit .220 with 7 homers and 36 rbis We have 2 short stops trade one!!!!!!!!!
glory Old-Timey Member Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 Need to get 3 starters somehow, and they have to be good. AA has a lot of work to do.

Well we need 2 shortstops so unless we get a good return for Goins let's keep them both. Goins can backup Tulo and Travis.

GD Old-Timey Member Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 Y'all talking about Tulo's NTC but Edwin has 10-5 rights
Corporal Valdal Verified Member Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 according to Blair we're very interested in Doug Fister Link?
thatoneguy Old-Timey Member Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 DOesn't he suck now? Pretty much, would really rather we don't go after him. There are much better options.

RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 Trade Donaldson and Stroman for Alcides Escobar
McDude Verified Member Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 Fister was down to 86 with his fastball this year. That won't play in the AL. rather get ian kennedy than fister.
xposbrad Verified Member Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 Need to get 3 starters somehow, and they have to be good. AA has a lot of work to do. Yep, this team needs 3 proven starters. Just don't see that happening. For sure resign Estrada, he can fill in the #4, then you can try a rookie at #5. But you still need high end talent in the 2/3 spot. Boston/NYY are also going after top starting pitching.
Corporal Valdal Verified Member Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 Mike Leake Mat Latos Trade for James Shields DONE
intrigid Verified Member Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 Yeah and some increased flexibility with the DH spot might be beneficial. I'm starting to side with the Bautista should play less outfield crowd (but I'm not in the Bautista should play 1B crowd). Move Bautista to 3rd, Donaldson/Martin the catcher/DH platoon (Martin catches on Dickey starts), Colabello to 1st, and put Edwin back in the outfield.
Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 Mike Leake Mat Latos Trade for James Shields DONE Mike Leake? Seriously? He can't even strike out hitters in the National League...
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 Didn't Shields' velocity dip this season?
thatoneguy Old-Timey Member Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 Mike Leake Mat Latos Trade for James Shields DONE Yeah, if we want to be 3rd/4th in the AL East.
agrushcow Verified Member Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 (edited) Our focus 100% should be pitching. Our lineup is basically set, maybe add a bench piece or two and get a new backup catcher. Only way our lineup isn't set is if we deal from it. Revere for whatever reason doesn't have a lot of value. No interest in trading Pillar and Pompey is a tough guy to move on from. I'd probably see what kind of a return we could get centered around a package of Sanchez, Pompey +. If a top of the rotation piece can be had for that you pull the trigger. Then you move Osuna to the rotation (like the plan of working him back to the bullpen as he reaches his innings limit). I'd try to keep Estrada, or one of Chen, Iwakuma, Zimmerman or Shark if we can't keep Price. Definitely retain Dickey. Then you have a rotation of: 1. Stroman 2. Trade 3. Chen 4. Dickey 5. Osuna/Hutchinson Then stockpile the bullpen. Maybe make Henriks the swing man and see what he can do in the rotation. This offseason, I'd love to see them try to create a shutdown pen. Imagine putting a package together for Aroldis, and having Osuna, Sanchez, Cecil and Lowe as the bridge guys. That would be dominant. Dream scenario would be to resign Price, and then to put a package together for Chapman or Kimbrel. 1. Price 2. Stroman 3. Chen 4. Dickey 5. Hutch. Lowe/Cecil/Osuna/Chapman. But not very realistic. Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 Need more lefty bats!!! Chris Davis
Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 Need more lefty bats!!! I never understood that narrative for a team that was the best against left AND right handed pitchers.
agrushcow Verified Member Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 I never understood that narrative for a team that was the best against left AND right handed pitchers. Asinine. Sure a little more balance would be nice, but come on much bigger fish to fry. Although, this looks pretty nice if we had the Dodgers payroll and could do everything else we need to do this offseason. 1. Heyward, CF 2. Donaldson, 3B 3. Bautista, RF 4. Chris Davis, 1B 5. Encarnacion, DH 6. Troy Tulowitzki, SS 7. Russell Martin, C 8. Pillar, LF 9. Travis/Goins, 2B Murders row x infinity.

agrushcow Verified Member Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 I get that Heyward is a decent CF, but to move Pillar... I can't say I watch Heyward a huge amount. Basically Heyward's got a stronger arm and I like how Pillar's arm plays in LF more. By all means love Pillar, but arm strength wise I'd consider him average in CF with plus accuracy.

I'm OK with average arm strength and elite range.
thatoneguy Old-Timey Member Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 I'm OK with average arm strength and elite range. This. Pillar makes a silly amount of catches that make you wonder "how the hell did he get to that?"
