Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted June 14, 2018 Author Posted June 14, 2018 Bryce walks and they just dip into the farm and pull out f***ing Soto and Robles, nbd That's called drafting, scouting, and development. Three things that give me wood.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted June 14, 2018 Posted June 14, 2018 I like how he's a Top 10 prospect in their ranking yet everyone is outraged that Fangraphs thinks he's a bum. He's objectively a top 3 prospect in all of baseball. You could easily argue his merit for being above either or both of Acuña and Vlad Jr. To put him behind the likes of Bichette and Nick Senzel is egregious. We're talking about a likely 65/70 FV guy.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted June 14, 2018 Posted June 14, 2018 I guess they are dragging him down for his defense. -4DRS and UZR is bad as well. Still if he's a 160wRC+ hitter that's a 5 win player even with s*** defense.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted June 14, 2018 Posted June 14, 2018 18 of the top 20 prospects of July 2 2018 tested positive for banned substances in tests conducted by MLB. The word agreements will fall and many of them will re-sign for less money. History in a few minutes in the stellar broadcast of @ SIN24Horas https://t.co/63WiDOZN5B

burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted June 14, 2018 Posted June 14, 2018 Good. This corrupt system has to stop. It won't stop because there's so much incentive for these players to get large bonuses and for their trainers. Now that there are spending caps there is less money to go around.

BlueRocky Old-Timey Member Posted June 14, 2018 Posted June 14, 2018 If there’s no question about the bat, Would you rather a slight below average SS or a plus second basemen?
Slade Old-Timey Member Posted June 14, 2018 Posted June 14, 2018 If there’s no question about the bat, Would you rather a slight below average SS or a plus second basemen? Let him play SS until someone better comes along to bump him off to second. We have a lot of SS in the system but he's the closest to the majors and Tulo shouldn't be blocking him.
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted June 14, 2018 Posted June 14, 2018 If there’s no question about the bat, Would you rather a slight below average SS or a plus second basemen? Those are pretty much the same player.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted June 14, 2018 Posted June 14, 2018 Jordan Romano suxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx I can't stand him. He's from TO and had good era and w-l so he was getting love from a lot of casual fans. I hate to root against anyone but I'm not sad that he's blowing up.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted June 14, 2018 Posted June 14, 2018 The question is what do you do if you put Bo at SS next year and he's average there and then Smith comes up a year later and is the better defensive SS. Kind of what happened with Correa and Bregman.

Wasn't comparing their talents just the situation of where you already have one of your top prospects having success at SS and a better defender comes along afterwards.

If both bats are legit, it will work itself out for sure. I long for that problem.

I guess because he's from Toronto and had a good ERA and W-L record? Some of you guys here are f***ing retarded.

Olerud363 Old-Timey Member Posted June 15, 2018 Posted June 15, 2018 Wasn't comparing their talents just the situation of where you already have one of your top prospects having success at SS and a better defender comes along afterwards. This happened with Russ Adams and Aaron Hill. Adams came first, was a terrible short stop, but Hill was moved to second to accommodate him. By the time they decided to move Adams, it was to late to move Hill, and they went with John McDonald at short. Despite his reputation McDonald was below replacement for the most part https://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playerid=395&position=SS Maybe in this day and age with shifts and creative defensive alignments (Russel Martin playing everywhere), they don't have to be married to certain guys at certain positions. Perhaps it doesn't even matter as much which guys you define at what position, you can simply put your best defender at the most important place in the shift. Maybe all these infielders coming up, are just infielders. If Smith is the best infielder, he just plays as deep as he can, at the spot where the data says he's needed most (ie short stop, short right field, up the middle, where-ever)
