pickoff22 Verified Member Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 Also, many of you are quoting the list prices as evidence of what tickets are being sold for. A seller can list any price they want for a ticket. The list prices don't necessarily reflect the actual market. Nobody is actually paying $380 for s***** seats. If you have tickets listed in stubhub you can click the "compare" or "help me price" button and see where actual sales have gone through. Today the most expensive 500 level that I see having sold was $390 USD, so over $500 Canadian per seat. Currently the 500s that are selling are going for between $240 and $300 USD (320-400ish CDN) after SH fees.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 Stubhub is ********. You should use tickpick to sell. Tickpick lists your ticket on like 5 websites and only take a 10% fee while Stubhub takes 25%.

Tickpick lists your ticket on like 5 websites and only take a 10% fee while Stubhub takes 25%. The seller pays the same fee (10%) TickPick is better for buyers typically though. The real problem is that Stubhub has way way more traffic, so it's easier to sell tickets there. I agree that TickPick is a great concept though.

jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 Prices will drop a little in the next day or 2. Always does. The absolute worst time to buy tickets is right after they sell out because everyone panics and "must secure their tickets" I'd wait as you get closer to the date since this is the worst time to buy like you said. I don't see the average person paying close to $200-$300 USD to sit in the 500s. There are so many listings right now in that price range, it seems like everyone who got tickets are just listing them at crazy high prices. If many of those tickets don't move as we get closer to Game 1 of the ALDS, ticket prices will drop. I could see prices falling in the $100-$150 range for most 500s, maybe touching a bit higher if they are really good seats like around the infield and a couple of rows up. You can find single seats in the premium dugout for around $400-$500 USD right now, and I'm sure if people are patient as you get closer to game day, those will even come down in price. Regardless, people on the secondary market will still need to pay more than face value, though not by 4x to 5x.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 October 1st could be a day more tickets are made available through the Blue Jays. I remember reading that Oct 1st will be the day ticket quantities are finalized by, so if people purchased more than 4 tickets for the same game, those tickets will be released. Could be wrong, though I think I read that somewhere today on Ticketmaster.

LGBJ29 Verified Member Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 (edited) Stubhub takes 25%??? Holy s*** 10% on seller 15% to buyer. I did a fake listing to see what it was like. If I listed my tickets for $420. The buyer sees $495, while i only get $378. Pretty brutal Edited September 24, 2015 by LGBJ29

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 So I have 4 tickets to ALDS game 2 (row 7 section 505) and none for game 1. What I want is 2 tickets to each game. I'm willing to swap 2 for 2 if anyone is interested Cheers
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 I personally don't give a s*** about making any money off my Playoff tix. I bought 2 full post season strips. I'm planning on going to 1 game per series, and selling the rest. All I want to do is break even, and I'm fairly confident I will.

Sell for double face value and you're going to the games for free.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 Either way I'm gonna sell on this message board to highest bidder, adjusted for CDN. If no one wants it then stubhub will be my last bet. if no one wants it then then I'll just go to the game, no biggie

Would seem pretty smart of us to sell and buy on here for a Stubhub level markup minus the fees. That helps out on both sides. Or swap tickets which I'm up for doing if it works for both sides

I hate giving stub hub a ton of money to act as relayer At the same time though, If some rich idiot is gonna pay me 500/seat on stub hub id rather rip him off than anyone on here

Could help for regular season tix next year as well.

HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 lawl. Thats what this thread was supposed to be It will be hard keeping track of who is selling. I think having a subforum for buyers and sellers would be good. I just don't know if they want to make a master thread for each game and buyers/sellers can discuss there, or if its up to buyers/sellers to create their own WTB/WTS
Pulk_Pull Verified Member Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 Stubhub probably has to fork over a handful of cash to the leagues/ticketmaster for allowing them to be an official reseller of tickets. But yes, they still rake. I'm definitely willing to buy someone's 500 level tickets at 2x the cost to ensure that person goes to another game for free. I'd really like to avoid the Stubhubs and Kijiji's of the world if possible. Anyone trying to cover the cost of 500 level tickets? (I can move this request to a Buy/Sell subforum if it's made!)
Governator Community Moderator Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 If there is going to be a lot of activity from sellers (like 10+) I agree a subforum is the way to go. Let everyone make their own thread with their own discussions.

jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 Just curious, how much does it cost for a room with a ballpark view at the Renaissance Hotel? I'm sure they are quite expensive especially now during the postseason. Though it wouldn't be that bad considering if people are paying around $200 USD each for 500 level seats or more for 100/200 level outfields, get maybe a group of people together to split the cost of the room and you still get to watch the game, and even buy your own alcohol. I'm sure though rooms were already booked way in advance.

I wonder if cancellations occur when the game gets scrubbed.

Thats a smart strategy. If you get a group of people and split the costs, it works out to be a lot cheaper than buying individual tickets. You'd have your own room, own alcohol, and washroom. Probably is worth it.
