Prefer 2 myself

In all honesty though, when 8 of your 9 bats on any given night are over 110 wRC+, does it really even matter how you order them?

I don't think that's true at all. AA is certainly good at making big moves, but it's not like he's picking these teams' pockets. The Marlins and Mets got what they wanted, and this deal isn't a slam-dunk value-wise for the Blue Jays. They get better and they needed to, but it makes sense for Colorado as well.

Other teams probably love negotiating with AA. He keeps everything quiet, is responsive and honest, and is willing to discuss literally anything.

I actualy think this is a crap trade for Colorado. There's absolutely no reason for them to have to take a player like Reyes in a Tulo deal. Castro, Hoffman is a good return for Tulo straight up. Castro, Hoffman with Reyes as extra baggage is pretty underwhelming. (I'm basically considering Tinoco as the price for Hawkins).

I'm fairly certain you misread the last sentence in my post.

I agree. The Mets, Yankees or Dodgers couldn't beat that package?

Maybe the Rockies think they can move Reyes for an asset? Idk, I think AA did pretty well here.

They're going to flip Reyes for prospects. They get the pitching they wanted without retaining any salary and another prospect or two on the way.

Pretty sure Gibby was up all night making lineups and just smiling

LOL

Exactly

He must feel like Cito did in 1993

For the difference between Reyes and Tulowitzki, they shed 50M in future commitments and picked up Castro and Hoffman. I don't see how you could call that a bad deal.

Either they are fortunate enough have something good already lined up for Reyes or they did not value the Reyes contract properly.

Your not going to get much for that contract though. If they want to trade him for decent prospect they may have to eat some of his salary

I think you just put Tulo at lead-off, and go from there.

Tulo

Donaldson

Bautista

Edwin

Smoak

Martin

Travis

Pillar

Pompey

Offense, defense, home runs, obp.....damn. If only Stroman were healthy for the pitching staff (which still needs some help).

They'll get a top 100 prospect and a couple A ball guys without retaining any salary

i love that they got Martin to be a middle of the order bat and he's going to bat 6th or 7th

Tulo's deal though expensive is still a positive value deal and the opportunity to land a shortstop of his calibre is rare enough to give him a quality of opportunity boost. If the best they could do is two good but not elite prospects and a bad contract than they bungled this by either negotiating poorly or holding on to him too long.

Just now on MLB Central Morning Drive...Morisi hears the Jays are far from done...expect much more!

Oh boy......

Here come Hamels and Pappelbon. LOL

I'd lead with Travis and prioritize Smoak over Encarnacion.

1) Devon Travis

2) Josh Donaldson

3) Jose Bautista

4) Justin Smoak

5) Edwin Encarnacion

6) Troy Tulowitzki

7) Russell Martin

8) Chris Colabello / Kevin Pillar

9) Kevin Pillar / Dalton Pompey

How many batters can hit from the left side now? Smoak and Carerra? John Farrell would have a heart attack trying to split up the right handed bats

"Who wins the trade?

We don't know! Here, check out the review of the deal from the excellent Blue Jays Plus site [http://www.bluejaysplus.com/jays-trade-tulowitzki-rockies/]. Our pal Dan Szymborski says his ZiPS system projects Tulowitzki's contract value at plus-$40 million and Reyes' at minus-$20 million. So that suggests the Rockies need to recoup $60 million in prospect value.

Good luck."

Don't have the pieces left. I've got a feeling Hamels will be a Dodger and Shields (backloaded deal is perfect for the payroll situation) will be a Jay along with a depth guy like Haren or Colon

Good time to remind people that Pompey is a switch hitter.

Every GM think they have the best (or at least, above-average) decision-making and the best staff, none of them are going to be scared of trading with another team. If they thought like that, they'd be replaced.

I agree, I wasn't really being serious in my original post and I said that I think you misread it because I wasn't trying to imply that anybody's scared of trading with AA, only that they might get annoyed with him calling repetitively over the same player.

They should quickly bring the Rogers Cebtre LF fence in 10 feet and extend the RF one by 15 feet

FU to Cano, Ortiz and Davis
