o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 yes I admit that the situation might have affected him...if he gets back to the 5 WAR SS this is a clear win. I just don't like some of his warning signs (a lot pretty similar to Reyes). I think finally getting Tulo in fantasy starting just last year has soured me on him slightly. I think the next three days should be very interesting in Blue Jays world. Last time AA did this I hated the follow up move...this time if there isn't one it takes away from the Tulo move. our rotation is still weak. We have Pompey who should come up and be our LF, but we don't really have 5 guys who can make quality starts every 5 days. God it would be nice to have Stro-show right about now.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 I remember in 2012, Tulo had an off-year and got hurt, and everyone was wondering if he was actually that great. Then he posted two 5+ win seasons and was the best player in baseball through 90 games last year. He is extremely talented, that much is clear. He was easily going to win MVP last year until the injury. Just a monster line.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 Is this confirmed? I'd really like to know... hopefully Tulo can get here soon enough. The Rockies have announced that the deal is official.
pickoff22 Verified Member Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 This deal would have been extraordinary if they added Dickey to that trade Why? We need him as our pitching stands right now, he's been better as of late and we're only committed to him for the rest of this year at a low salary.
King Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 The Rockies have announced that the deal is official. Confirmed that Tulo will not be in tonights game
TheHurl Site Manager Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 I got him in fantasy this year too. He was crap in April and May but he's been almost vintage since iirc. Huge June (153 wRC+) but back down in July (87 wRC+).
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 Tulo seems awesome but I haven't really seen him play TBH. With the injuries, I just hope AA did his due dilegence and scouted him fully... he's not been himself this year... should we expect the same going forward or is there some regression expected? It would be great if it wound out like the Headley deal from last season. Headley was also a pretty serious injury concern at the time, and he was sort of stagnating in San Diego (1.5 fWAR in the first half of the season prior to the trade). Tulo is pretty much doing the exact same thing this year (1.2 fWAR prior to being traded), except a lot of his value his offensive, while Headley's was defensive. A change of scenery halfway through the year seemed to rejuvenate Headley, and he ended up posting 2.7 wins over the remainder of the season in New York. It would be beautiful if we could see something similar from Tulo.

Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 So now we got both Ricky Romero and Tulo best of both in that draft lol
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 Dan O'Dowd is on MLB Central right now, and he says he thinks the Jays got a "one win above replacement improvement in 2015, I think maybe 3 going forward". Most GMs aren't as dumb as we make them out to be.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 Nick Cafardo Reyes told me the only thing he didn't like about playing in Toronto was the turf Well he should have agreed to DH a game every now and then.

The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 Both Reyes and Tulo are injury prone. Tulo may be less stubborn than Reyes though and agree to DH some games to rest and preserve his body. Injuries for each of them mean different things too. Reyes' value is tied a lot more to his legs than Tulo's are. If I had to choose an injury prone SS, 100% I'd go with the guy who has a monster bat over the ageing slap hitting speedster.

o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 will LaTroy Hawkins be our closer now?
BlueBirdBro Verified Member Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 God there are so many comments on Orioles Hangout I wish I could reply to. "Toronto gave up three significant arms in this deal" I count 1 1/2.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 Even if Tulo and Reyes turn out to be the same guy (not a given but a possibility) and even if all that's being accomplished by swapping one for the other is pushing the s***** years further back, that's totally worth it for the Jays. In the short term, the core got stronger and the s*** end of the Reyes deal dissapeared. That's worth cashing in some future for.
Governator Community Moderator Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 will LaTroy Hawkins be our closer now? No....

"Toronto gave up three significant arms in this deal" I count 1 1/2. That's cause if you put those arms in the Orioles system they're all Top 10. Just shows had bad the system over there is.
