Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 Daniel Barbarisi Kazmir is out of the game for the A's. Evan Scribner pitching. No explanation as yet. Big break for the Yankees. Goodbye Pompey?

Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 Wow. Interesting. Susan Slusser Left triceps tightness for Kazmir
glory Old-Timey Member Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 Left tricep tightness for Kazmir, apparently.

Swervin81 Verified Member Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 I'll float an interesting name in here. Tyson Ross Got 2 years of control left after this year, and his peripherals have been constantly really good for the last 3 years. The Padres are gonna be seelers with how this experiment has totally s*** the bed, so I can see something there. Plus, he'd be far cheaper than the big name targets. Perhaps nab him and Cashner in a package?
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 Jays offensive + = 120 win games Ugh the Indians rotation is filthy.

What about something like: Jays get: Ross, Kimbrel, and Benoit Padres get: Hutchison, Norris and Castro Sanchez slots into the rotation when he gets back. Buehrle Ross Estrada Dickey/Doubront Sanchez Kimbrel Benoit Osuna Delabar Cecil Hendriks Loup
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 Iwakuma might be an interesting target. Lowish salary, and will have only made a few starts by the trade deadline after being out most of the year. FA at end of the year I believe, and Seattle looks like they're going to be out of it. I'd have to think the price could be pretty reasonable.

Buehrle Ross Estrada Dickey/Doubront Sanchez Kimbrel Benoit Osuna Delabar Cecil Hendriks Loup Doesn't help enough to justify the cost, I like the return though. Abomination mentioned Iwakuma who I've always liked as well, would cost less than Ross and help just as much if healthy. Probably costs you Pentecost for Iwakuma though.

strochez Verified Member Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 That rotation is turrrible Lol true but it's better than with Hutch who will either implode or give you 7 innings of 1 run ball. Ross is at least somewhat consistent and adding Kimbrel would be huge. Also if they did this trade there would be another trade after for a Cueto, Kazmir type.
DuckDuckGose Verified Member Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 What would you guys think of Ross and Kemp for Reyes? Is Kemp's deal that bad now?
GD Old-Timey Member Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 What would you guys think of Ross and Kemp for Reyes? Is Kemp's deal that bad now? OH GOD PLEASE NO c
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 What would you guys think of Ross and Kemp for Reyes? Is Kemp's deal that bad now? Gross, Matt Kemp is horrible.
DuckDuckGose Verified Member Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 Kemp being terrible is kind if the point though. Jays take that awful contact to get Ross who is pretty good..
GD Old-Timey Member Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 "Kemp is still good and we really need Ross The Rogers Centre will fix him, he'll see more fastballs in our lineup" -Northof49 on -0.8 fWAR Matt Kemp
GD Old-Timey Member Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 Kemp being terrible is kind if the point though. Jays take that awful contact to get Ross who is pretty good.. It's too bad, it's not worth it.

Only way we can take on Kemp's contact is to move out money.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 He makes good points. Only way we can take on Kemp's contact is to move out money. There is no reason to take on Matt Kemp's salary. none.
DuckDuckGose Verified Member Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 Jays get: Ross, Kimbrel, and Kemp Padres get: Reyes, Boyd, DJ Davis, B specs
DuckDuckGose Verified Member Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 There is no reason to take on Matt Kemp's salary. none. Making the playoffs is worth Kemp's contract. Ross would be a bonus.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 Making the playoffs is worth Kemp's contract. Ross would be a bonus. I don't think it is. It cripples our salary for the years beyond Reyes' contract. If you take out the rest of the pieces besides Reyes that we'd be giving up it gets a little better. Maybe include Renfroe too.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 I wonder if the Dodgers would do Rollins and Ethier for Reyes?

If you take out the rest of the pieces besides Reyes that we'd be giving up it gets a little better. Maybe include Renfroe too. It doesn't have to cripple payroll. Outside of Donaldson, Bautista and Martin all the big contacts will be off the books. The lineup will have Stroman, Osuna, 2+ more young arms, Travis, Pompey/Alford/Vlad, among others still in their arb years. IMO if they can clear short-term money they'll be fine in the long run.
