G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted July 22, 2015 Posted July 22, 2015 I don't think Boxy is joking. We cut Luis Valbuena in order to get Vizquel onto the roster. Vizquel then created a major clubhouse controversy (over Henderson Alvarez's debut being moved around) and somehow stayed on the roster all year despite amassing -0.7 fWAR. Valbuena has posted 6.7 fWAR and can play a position that was a major hole for this team for years (second base). It wasn't a very productive sequence of events to say the least. Although I doubt AA is thinking about clubhouse stuff at the moment. I agree those were bad moves at the time You just can't compare that to acquiring Donaldson and Martin. Those were all-around great additions from both a talent and clubhouse perspective.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted July 22, 2015 Posted July 22, 2015 MLBTR: Toronto has long been said to be pursuing one or more arms, with reports suggesting that the team is exploring a wide variety of possibilities. Latos is not as exciting as some of the top names that could be available, but he is relatively affordable from a salary perspective (compared, at least, to players like David Price and Cole Hamels) and likely won’t cost as much in terms of prospects as names like Johnny Cueto and Jeff Samardzija. That’s especially important for a Toronto club that reportedly has little payroll space available and is reluctant to part with young pitching (especially given that many of those arms factor into the present big league roster equation).
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted July 22, 2015 Posted July 22, 2015 That is not "smoking hot" ... that is a dog with too much make-up, photoshop, and push-up bra She's pretty trashy (and so is Matt) but I think there's a naturally attractive woman underneath all that. Maybe not smoking but not a dog. http://cmsimg.cincinnati.com/apps/pbcsi.dll/bilde?NewTbl=1&Site=AB&Date=20120126&Category=SPT04&ArtNo=201260804&Ref=PH&Item=1&Maxw=640&Maxh=410

HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted July 22, 2015 Posted July 22, 2015 Yeah the eyebrows could be fake, but how about the color? She could be real or fake, I can't tell. Unless they don't do the roots.

CrackerJack Verified Member Posted July 22, 2015 Posted July 22, 2015 Gibbons likes a good clubhouse so he can do even less Most managers stay in their office and keep the f*** out of the clubhouse and let boys be boys. Terry Francona, for example, wasn't even aware that all his players were taking shots of Jack Daniels in the clubhouse before every playoff game during their first championship run. And when he happened to pass thru the clubhouse before the clinching world series game and saw the boys taking their shots, he was surprised to see it yet downed one too (when offered one.) Francona also had no problem with Beckett, Lackey & Lester (and any of his starters) drinking beers in the clubhouse on games that they weren't pitching and also thought it was no big deal when his players wanted Popeyes chicken delivered to the clubhouse. Managers aren't babysitters and Francona is viewed as a pretty good manager, no?

RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 Everyone know how Rogers media arm is going to spin a lack of action at the trade deadline? Getting back Stroman in Sept is like acquiring an ace. Wilner will feast on that point
reedjohnsonfan Verified Member Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 Agreed. Yep. But the forum police don't like multiple threads, instead they'd rather go through multiple pages talking about several different players. It makes no sense to me either.
Olerud363 Old-Timey Member Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 I have mixed thoughts about the socialist dictators that run this place... edit -- I think some of the mods are pretty good (like Hurl I think)... it might just be a couple who are thought police... I'm really not sure... just know there have been a lot of complaints about destroyed theads and silly bans lately. On one hand they are contributing their time so have the right to dictate... On the other hand it has definately tipped the scales to humorless, drone threads. I remember one innocent silly thread about Cabrera was shut down completely... A good mod eliminates child pornography and multiple dog threads (a day)... otherwise we shouldn't even know who they are. However we do know that they are supressing the thoughts and threads of the ordinary people.... sad in a way.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 Time to sell!!!! Only 3 games back of a fading Twins team that is likely to be out of it by mid to late August, especially with their upcoming sked? Give me a break. And BTW, the Twins road record is ghastly..

Give me a break. And BTW, the Twins road record is ghastly.. Jays are 9 games below .500 on the road, same as twins. We might have a chance at the wild card but not worth selling the farm for.

TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 It's alright, he just has to walk across the field to the Jays dugout, no big deal.
