I'll take Ben Zobrist and Mike Trout for $500, Alex.

SS, Reyes

CF, Trout

RF, Bautista

DH, Encarnacion

3B, Donaldson

2B, Zobrist

C, Martin

LF, Saunders

1B, Smoak

Is this real life?

No. No it isn't.

With those players the lineup should look more like this:

1. CF-Trout-R

2. RF-Bautista-R

3. 2B-Zobrist-S

4. DH-Encarnacion-R

5. 3B-Donaldson-R

6. SS-Reyes-S

7. C-Martin-R

8. LF-Saunders-L

9. 1B-Smoak-S

Anyways back to reality

Semantics. If that was the 2015 Blue Jays I'd be comfortable with the line up in reverse.

Anyone else surprised we haven't signed Gordon Beckham yet? Or was AA's rumoured man-crush on him just a smoke screen? He's cut from the same cloth at Justin Smoak.

Minor league deal with an invite to spring training and I'm down.

I'm surprised. I thought for sure it would have happened by now. There's still time.

I'm glad it hasn't happened yet, though. AA has changed. He's looking for real upgrades now (Martin, Donaldson, Saunders, Travis, etc), rather than settling for mediocrity or veterans who can't play but provide "dat leadership intangible".

I kinda want Zobrist.

I'd take zobrist, but I wouldn't in a million years trade Sanchez for 1 year of Zobrist. Just go sign Cabrera already. What's the hold up. Cabrera wants to sign a 1 year contract to re-establish value. Rogers is a hitters park and why wouldn't Cabrera want to hit in the 6 hole behind bautista, Encarancion and Donaldson.

hey orgfiller...what's with the lol and delete...I'm a dope....but I wouldn't recommend signing melky to play second....always meant asdrubal

Org thought you meant Melky, Mikeleelop thought you meant Everth, you actually meant Asdrubal.

He'd have to want to come here first, these things and money, could be the hold-up...:P

I just can't see why he wouldn't want to come here with our lineup and a hitters park, and by all accounts his asking price isn't that high.

I'm all for it.

Devon Travis will barely outhit Goins in MLB.

You remind me of someone who used to post here that I can't quite put my finger on

No one good, but someone

If definately consider Sanchez for 1 year of Zobrist. TB might not though. If they did, they'd probably flip Sanchez.

For what, do you think? 3 team deal could work.

I've never seen a kid with such dominating stuff get so little love from his own fanbase.

I think we're all just tempering our expectations after watching Drabek (pretty similar pitcher to Sanchez) fail so hard.

The hold up is that Cabrera is a felon

Wrong Cabrera, Asdrubal is the Cabrera that's being discussed here, not Everth... (Unless I've missed something...)

But whatever, all Mexicans look alike, right Ang?

(PS: Not technically a felon, no convictions... He's not exactly a good dude, but right now he's just ACCUSED of domestic violence and driving while high...)

Really? I know Zob continues to put up decent WAR numbers - but he just doesn't move the needle for me. Great, versatile defense, but he's down to a 10/10 player now. 4 years of Donaldson is the type of player I'd be willing to give up Sanchez for...and we didn't even have to move him to get Josh...1 year of Zob? Pass.

Zobrist is 33 years old, and will be 34 mid season. If we are going to use our trade chips to get someone, let's get a real ace pitcher in their prime. I'd rather save our trade pieces for a package for Cueto who most likely won't sign an extension in Cin. We could have bid on Kang or signed Lowrie if this team really wanted a plug at 2b.

Sanchez is a polarizing figure on this board and really for prospect hounds everywhere. JFaS can speak for himself but I know that his ERA predictor he created (TIPS), gave some solid weighting to swinging strike percentage. I believe that Swinging Strikes stabilize fairly quickly and hopefully JFaS can revisit that for some of the newer posters someday. There is plenty of indication that Sanchez in the minors did not get many swinging strikes. My personal issue with Sanchez was how poorly he pitched 2nd times through the lineup when I watched him in the minors. And also how much his pitching style changed when he had his first BB of the game. Sanchez may indeed put it all together and become a top of the rotation type guy someday, but I really believe that's not going to happen without some kind of a change (as I've stated before I don't know pitching mechanics well so I have no clue if it's a mechanical or mental change needed)...Jays are not in a position to allow him to discover those changes as a starter in the majors. Which is why many of us believe that Sanchez's greatest value to the Jays team, is as a trade chip or a reliever (where he still is not a sure thing if the swinging strike % is an issue)

I'd be interested to hear if he put in softer things like draft position, various rankings on lists, velocity, height, weight.

Just curious what the R-values would be for that kind of thing vs. Swinging Strikes.

Sanchez for one year of Zobrist (+ comp pick) seems very light. Pretty sure it doesn't get a deal done.
